Wow!
Pulled the trigger and bought a 2013 911 S Cabriolet in GT Silver Metallic.
Its my first Porsche and I traded in a 2011 M3 Cab for her.
So far -- can't believe this car. Everyone kept telling me how much I was going to enjoy driving the car. I *loved* my M3, so had low expectations around how much of a difference I'd really feel. Can't believe how flat and tossable this car is. I think it, the car just moves...
Also a brave new world for me -- moved from my loved manuals to the PDK. Having fun with that!
What are people doing for tint? Trying to decide how much to wrap the sides and back.
Happy driving!

Can't help you on tint...cracking down hard in WA State on both tint & front plates.
Welcome to the dark side my friend. I too recently became a convert from an 11 e92 m3 and had similar expectations as you. Oh boy was I surprised. I still have a place in my heart for the m3 but now there's a larger place for the p car. I still miss the everyday usability of the m but then it's instantly forgotten when I turn into a corner. Btw I've had manuals all my life but tried the dct for the m and gave it much respect. I now came back to my roots. Manual or pdk, this car is a beast in any guise. Enjoy!

Both cars drive great.
The M3 wants alot of throttle to get going. The throaty v8 really gets in a groove at a higher RPM (and then it is super sweet...)
Still in the break-in period on the 911..But so far, I'm very impressed with how accessible the acceleration and kick is -- feels like it has a much broader range.
The car is much tighter than the M3....both are convertibles, so you'd have to do a different comparison in the coupes...but the 911 feels rigid and more connected to the road..Also feels very sure about itself...
Breaking -- haven't really laid on the breaks on the porsche yet. Always felt like the M3 was a monster on breaking..so far, this feels generally equal, but haven't really pushed it..
Still getting used to some of the differences between PDK and manual. With the PDK, alot of the lazy driving you do with a manual goes a way.. its just easier to shift down in a corner...so you do it more...
My left foot is still confused...when I come to a stop..

Let us know your comparison after breaking in the car when your able to use that magic "sport+" button and utilize launch control!
It's like carnival ride, just better hehehe
LOVE to hear about members getting new 991's. Especially when they came from an M car. I recently sold my 1M (1 series m coupe), and am patiently waiting to hear news on the Targa S for my first porsche. I know I have to be really patient, even more patient then the guys that are ordering right now
The 1M was great but the slight turbo lag bothered me. The e90/92 m3 just got too big and heavy imo, and a gas guzzler too. It definitely still has it's strengths, but I think your really going to enjoy your 991, whole different league altogether
If you go on the M3 sites, M drivers love the 991! They have nothing but respect for it cause it's all in the family. Many have hopes to move up to a 911 and it's a nice progression.
