Vasik7,

I installed Fabspeed intake and x pipe in a thread further down with some pictures of too. Glad to see Sid become a potential believer with the intake ;-) Maybe I will do the side mufflers next....

I love the way it sounds and it seems a get a performance lift as well.

The shop that installed everything for me (Motorwerks) here in Houston was very impressed with the quality of Fabspeed's products.

Glad to hear that you are happy too DBYT!!!!

Darren, The sound is. . . Oh So SWEET!! You've got to be STOKED!! Thanks for taking the time to post your photos, videos, and write-up. Like Sid said, along with helping your 6Speed friends out, you've given FabSpeed a tremendous gift with your post here. A lot of us are going to be looking at this option. I'm loving GoPro Videos on these posts.

Thanks campy. So far so good. Going to let it bed down a little and see how it goes.

Dhill,
Happy to share my findings as its all part of being on this forum. When my sales guy took the wheel and put the car through its paces, I was totally blown away by the sheer amount of grip that the 991 has. The car literally corners like its on rails.

Guys,
An update on the install. Car threw a CEL over the weekend and I took it into the dealer. They took off bumper to do diagnostic and said the issue was with the intake. Long story short, Fabspeed stepped up and will be reinstalling the factory air intake at my request. I will be going with the BMC filters on the factory intake, after all that. I decided to do that instead of dealing with the dealer on potential warranty issues.

Sid was right!!!

Eek!!
Nothing beyond that happened? No other damage it sounds like. I do like that they are taking the initiative and reinstalling the OEM intake.
Keep us posted.

After consulting with my shop guy in Seattle, thanks to your thread, we put down a deposit for the Fabspeed Maxflo mufflers with deluxe tips (X-51 Black Chrome) today. Really appreciate your thread and videos. Helped us a lot as we have been looking a while for the sound volume upgrade that you demonstrated while leaving the PSE (which we also love) intact. Awesome!!

Nothing happened beyond that. The techs at the dealer explained that the factory airbox has something like 7 different vacuum lines attached to it and if anyone of them is not there, it throws a error message. I just decided to err on the side of caution and have it reinstalled. No big deal.

Car spent the morning at Fabspeed getting the factory airbox reinstalled. All good now. I went with the BMC filters, which I had originally planned to do until a last on the spot change to the intakes...

CEL gone. Fabspeed guys were very good to work with and stepped up when the issue with the dealer arose.

As for differences between the car before and now, bit early to tell yet in terms of gain or loss but the exhaust note is not changed. Will take a longer drive this week to see.

Now that I am past the 2k miles, I have been opening it up more on a regular basis. WOW! This car really takes off from about 4500 rpm.

darren, i know we discussed this today but i figured i would post here as well for everyone else's clarification.

Fabspeed Motorsport USA has sold and installed over 20 of our 991 high performance carbon fiber air intake systems and shipped many more worldwide with no complaints and no CEL’s.

Fabspeed dyno developed and thoroughly street tested the intake system with thousands of issue free miles spread across various cars. We have even adapted the Sound Symposer to our intake for even better results!

Our 991 high-performance intake system did not cause a check engine light on any of the customers car sold. Fabspeed’s head installer was a Porsche factory trained certified technician who has worked on literally thousands of late model Porsche’s and knows them inside and out.

I don't believe there is any doubt about you or your product. Sometimes things happen. You still made the customer happy, correct? There's no bad mouthing here. I have not been swayed negatively about Fabspeed at all.
I do appreciate you coming on here and talking about it though.

Thanks!!

i know! as long as the customer is happy, i'm happy, i just wanted to point out, in case anyone else was considering an intake, a CEL is not normal!

Fabspeed mufflers

I had Fabspeed mufflers myself for both 996 and 997 and never had any issues.

Thanks
