Alternative to rollbar & harness...
I know that there is no substitute (
) to actual rollbar and harnesses, but I am still trying to find options that would provide better support (being more tightly connected to the seat) and maybe slightly improved safety for occasional trackdays.
The perfect solution would be a harness that would attach to a simple harness bar, or to the rear seat latch, and would work with the 18-ways sportseats (harness would have to go 'around' the top of the seat vs. through harness openings in a true racing seat), but I have not found a suitable option yet.
An alternative is to use a combination of less effective devices: CG-lock + autoX Torso harness + Simpson Head & neck restraint that does not require a harness.
Any feedback/experience on a suitable harness (working OK with the 18-way seats) or alternative options will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I think you know this already...but when it comes to harnesses and roll bars...IMO..its all or nothing.
Once you commit to getting a harness.... for your own safety you need the whole set-up. Proper rollbar, proper seats, correct brackets and harnesses. Having a mack shift system with some give is asking for trouble.
I would be hesitant to do all this to a new 911 so for now I would just stick with the CGLock and do the belt pull trick.

Maybe getting different seat will help in securing you around corners..
If you aren't tracking, I don't recommend roll bar and harness. They really require helmet to protect your head. I see cars with roll bar on street cars all the time. One bump with that will knock you out.

Wait till Schroth comes out with a harness, that is usually the best alternative, but they too have their limitations.
