My dealer was nice enough to swap for 20 classic carerra wheels. I said I would only buy it if they switch them so they wanted to make a sale

 

I am pretty sure the dealer can't just print a new window sticker (Monroney Sticker). That label is a legal document and I don't think the dealers are going to want to mess around with it. If you find a dealer that is willing to alter the label, let us know so that we can make sure to not do business with them.

The Monroney sticker is required to be affixed to the side window or windshield of every new car sold in the United States and can only be removed by the consumer (Chapter 28, Sections 1231-1233, Title 15 of the United States Code). A fine of up to US$10,000 per vehicle plus one year in jail for each offense is authorized if the sticker is missing. The act does not apply to vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of more than 8500 pounds (3856 kg).
The sticker must include the following information:

• The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP)
• Engine and transmission specifications
• Standard equipment and warranty details
• Optional equipment and pricing
• City and highway fuel economy ratings, as determined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
• As of September 2007, crash test ratings as determined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

 

Wow! I had no idea. However, unless I missed something in what you wrote, it just says the sticker has to be there with the correct info. It doesn't say the dealer can't reprint one if necessary for some reason. I'd have to think they have a system from Porsche that they able to access for things like that.

In any event, it might not matter for me. Once I see the car, I might just like it as it is and not need to change the wheels.

 

I am pretty sure the dealer can't print one. He probably could get a replacement one from PCNA in the event that the one that came on the car was damaged. But the Monroney Sticker has to match the equipment on the car, which is tied to the VIN. PCNA would have to change the record for the car in their computer to match the new equipment on the car. This is not very likely to happen as PCNA is not likely wanting to get involved in changes like that.

 

I can see where a dealer might (unlikely though) do this to close a deal, but the OP is waiting on an order, so as far as the salesman is concerned the deal is "done" so the OP really doesn't have any leverage.

 

Dealers are always switching wheels. Had that on my first 650 where they put expensive wheels on and I refused to buy the car with them because they had really bad curb rash. They'd sold the original wheels and then put another set of wheels that were an option from a new car on the lot onto my car.

Can't believe same thing doesn't happen everywhere. Yes, the paper is incorrect but so what if it has different wheels than originally built with as long as we get the wheels we want.
