As a fellow guards red owner I must congratulate your father on his impeccable taste!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

Havok: Funny you say that. I actually bookmarked your photos and saved them on my phone to look at all the time while I waited those 4 arduous months for the car to arrive. In fact, when i was debating whether to go guards red, your photos helped alleviate any fears that I had over getting a red 911. Thanks! Great shots, especially the one in your driveway.

My phone photo stream. hahaha. It's great to have such a great resource here.

The shots that pushed me over the edge to get guards red (credit goes to Havok and others):

I have two early 40 something sons. Both of them say the 991 I bought is theirs when I die (but fortunately they haven't said out-loud yet: "please hurry up and die!").

My 2 older sons are in high school and I showed them this thread to 'Inspire' them as well... The comment I got is that they would rather buy me a Porsche than push my wheelchair
I guess you get what you deserve Good for them if they think they will be as well off in a few (or rather many) years. Maybe it would come in good order to get them to take a loan for college vs. expecting future-wheelchair-dad to provide

Fortunately my kids didn't have to take a loan for college. I'm very proud that one of them went to Cooper Union and graduated as an architect with a 5 year tuition scholarship (all I had to pay for is living in NY). He bought a '74 Porsche 911 as his first car out of college, but couldn't keep it running well and sold it.

So you passed the Porsche-virus on to your kids
This being said, an architect must love the blend of style and technology you have in a 911. Making an excellent car that evolves while respecting a pure and timeless styling code and work with engineers to make it go faster and handle better while leaving the engine at the back is very much the type of challenge that great architects are confronted to.

You hit the nail right on the head, Serge!! BTW, I worked on it for him but when he got tired of bringing it over for tuning, he sold it to me and I fixed it up and made a good profit. He lambastes me about that unmercifully. Love the early ones, but they do require a lot of work and they're not very fast compared to today.
