997 GTS to 991S
there's always the transaction we will be crossing over. i don't know if i'll ever be comfortable in the 991 like i'm in the 997. that's not something i can control nor i care. only thing i know i'll be buying few good 997s down the road to keep.
Cheers,
I appreciate everyone, 997 and 991 owners alike, responding. I think you have convinced me, along with a drive I just completed, to keep my GTS for a while longer. It is a great car, and I think I would have a tough time actually pulling the trigger on the 991 right now. That is not meant to be a negative comment on the 991, I am just too happy with my GTS right now.
GS997S,
the more i drive my 991 the more i miss my 997. 991 is a great car for daily but it's somewhat too fancy for me. in my mind the 911 should always be simple, direct & pure driving machine. the 991 just lack of some direct connections compare to the 997 i had.
u have the perfect gentleman modern 911 to date imo. i'd enjoy it more before jumping into the 991. looking back the 911 history, the last variant of the previous generation always proven to be the best one down the road. the GTS is simply that & more. a wide-body RWD packed with the right performance figures. hard to ask for more.
if u decide to sell please remember me & shoot me a PM first.

However like each new edition throughout the years in the 911 line up it has some differences in drive and comfort and other aspects from the editions before.
As always it depends on what the driver is looking for. Whats great is that there are so many choices out there.
Your comments are interesting. The 991 is a great porsche. Its improved on a great 997 in so many areas.

my point is not to knock the 991. as i have one & i like it for what i use it for. as u said there are so many choices out there so picking up the right one is the key. i'm just not gonna be satisfied with one.

I'll wait for the GT3 or the 991.2 GTS version and decide what to do. There's a good chance I could hold on to this one forever. Plus upgrading will cost a lot of money. I have a feeling that the new GT3 will be around 160k after options. What will suck for veteran track guys that refuse to get the new GT3 because it only comes with pdk-s is that they would get passed by noobs like me if I bought a new GT3 with pdk-s.
Because this is my only car, I do need it to be somewhat livable on the street, so I maybe have to go with a 991.2 C2S or GTS.
I enjoy my current car a lot so I am in no rush to buy the latest and greatest. Plus I feel that my car has a bit of character it and it's my first porsche so that alone will be hard to part with.

I drove both back to back and my vote goes to 997 GTS. The new 991 was very capable but it felt more M3 than 911. I found it wasn't exciting unless you were at felony speeds.
The 997 GTS was a more exciting around town. It felt like more of an event and frankly more like an experience that no other car could deliver. For me that is the key.

Your talking about a base 991 right. Yes, without the PDCC there is a big different in how they feel driving.
THe PDCC is incredible technology, it changes the dynamics of the car.
i guess you never used the brakes; if you had the difference would have been rather apparent.
I was actually considering this as my new toy car dilemma - 997GTS or 991S. The 991 is just such a spectacular ride and I love how you can configure it. Only thing that would hold me from not going to a 997GTS is the steering, its not as twitchy, but way more direct in response - a fair trade off.
