991 Recall

Well, I got the unfortunate news that my car is part of the muffler recall. Got an email today about the recall, but that parts are not available yet and won't come in for another 6 - 8 weeks. For those who live in NY, who do you consider the best service shop in the tri state area? I bought car in NJ (Jack Daniels), but live in Queens, NY.

Hopefully this will be the only setback you will experience with your new 991.

Manhattan Motorcars does great work. Town Motors in Englewood is also good.

i had heard about this recall coming. i went ahead and upgraded my standard exhaust to PSE. when porsche USA called me, i asked them about possibly being able to reimburse part of that cost since i went ahead and had the dealer change it out to PSE. they opened a case and are going to look into it. i will let ya'll know what happen or more likely doesn't happen.

Maybe I am confused, but I was under the impression that the recall only affected 911s produced though November xx of last year. Thus, any car produced after that date would not be affected by the recall and have to await parts. Could someone please confirm.

Thanks!

I believe that is correct, the production dates of the recall affects those from March 7 to November 12, 2012. I picked up mine in mid, late October.

Ugh!

You know, I recently listened to The PSE. I have to say I like my standard exhaust better. It is nice and refined, and wails at high rpms nicely. The PSE is more throaty.

if you Do go PSE, get The switch so you can choose between modes.

Call your dealer. They will have a list of campaigns (recalls), if any, on your car by it's VIN Number.

You can also cal PCNA, give them your VIN Number, and they will let you know.
