MPG on sports vs sport plus vs regular mode

does it really make a difference on mpg if you press the sports plus?
In principle, I understand that will increase throttle response and hence the
rate of consumption however I tried to measure the mpg's with the onboard software but I didn't see any difference...
Also, the 18mpg/26 highway on my C4S is more like 12 city/18highway...
and that being moderate...(break in period)
I never experienced this issue with my 997 2S ... even on break in period
could it be that the the 4S is a shy gas guzzler?

Ir really depends on whether you are driving a MT or PDK. One of the biggest increases in gas consumption is RPM. For example, when cruising on level terrain at 47 mph in normal mode you will be in 7th gear with a PDK, making the RPM (and fuel consumption) very low. When in sport plus, the PDK will not shift into a higher gear as soon as it can, increasing fuel consumption. If you have a MT, then the RPM is up to you. If you have a MT, you might want to try taking off in first to 45, then move to 7th as quickly as possible when cruising and you should get better mileage. I drive about 70 / 30 city / highway and I have gotten 23.5 MPG for the 5000 miles since I've owned the car and I'm relatively aggressive from stop lights.

Sorry, forgot to say i am in MT , but is your car a 4S? because on the 2S I had a similar mileage with you..RPM's for break in period always below 4K.

A 4S will use a little more fuel, but not much if the fore/aft drive management system is working properly. You might check the display to see if the torque is on the rear wheels under 50 MPH cruise.

To get good mileage, you want RPM below 2000 at cruise.

I just did a track weekend, driving 120 miles each way there and back, on Toyos, with my brother and a fully packed car, and we got 31 mpg on the highway. On the track - about 8mpg. So yeah, it's all about the revs!

I feel I wasn't specific enough,
I am aware about the revs, but I guess my question is pertaining more on the 4s...
Whoever has a 4S and had a 2S before are you guys noticing a HUGE difference
in MPG?
