911S price vs Turbo
911S price vs Turbo
So I have had my eye on the new 911 for a while now, I think it's simply a work of art...seriously the back design is amazing. They have done an amazing job with the interior.
I have been searching the forums for a while and researching the options, the build I want comes out to 130K....just for fun I compared it to the old Turbo with PDK and Chrono and that comes out to 150K...so not a huge difference considering. I never did a build on the old 911S so I'm not sure if the new one is just more expensive but I thought the Turbo would be a lot higher, like 50K higher. I'm just wondering if it's better to wait and get the Turbo assuming it will close to the same price as it is now since with the Turbo you already get some things standard. For example full leather is only 1K more, the sport exhaust is already there, no need for body effects since it already has it, only need to add PDK and chrono package it seems to get a similar car. Do I just have options that I need to get rid of but then again some I really like such as PDK, sport exhaust, chrono and for resale value they are a must as I sell all my cars personally and never trade in....so I'm a bit confused on what I should do.

This is a very tough question . The 991 price increase over the 997 line up does place it in 997 Turbo territory and dealerships have both cars on new car lots making the choice hard .
There is no doubt that the 997 Turbo will have an amazing blast of torque . The current Turbo is a beautiful car bone stock too.
The 991 C2S on the other hand is more comfortable and has a very sophisticated PDK system . The 997 Turbo's PDK may not have the same refinement but what it does have is the ability to maintain boost on upshifts which is incredible .
I would have a very hard time choosing !!!
Conclusion -- There is something about the Turbo that leaves an impression on me . The novelty of the Turbo just doesn't fade . That sledgehammer torque and engine spool gives the car this feeling like a spaceship .
Tough choice !!! Drive both , price both , and please post what you decided. Good Luck.

Get the 991. However great, the 997 is and looks dated next to the 991. And it only takes a couple of weeks for your brain and body to adjust to the extra speed of the turbo and loose the speed rush, so little added value there !
The S does 60 in just under 4 seconds. The new 991 turbo with probably do it in significantly under 3. The new S probably costs 5-7K more than the 997S and I'm anticipating the 991 turbo with cost 10K more than the 997 turbo. I don't live in an area that I can responsibly use that extra power, but if I did and I had the money I would buy the 991 turbo. Though the 997 turbo was good for it's time, we have moved on a generation and the improvements are not insignificant.

Agree....still does 0-60 in 3.5 and you get the NA exhaust note! .....never been a fan of the way the turbo sounds.
And the recent pics of the turbo does not look that good IMO.

+1 This.
Of course, this is JMHO!
I respectfully disagree that the rush of the turbo gets old. Had mine four years and I can promise you it's an amazing feeling to smash the peddle and hold on to the wheel as the car simply blasts down the highway. I also like how the turbo is distinguished by the wide stance, ducts and body work.
I really like the 991 and appreciate the updates so it's not an easy choice.
Can't go wrong with either way. GL
