After break in comes the Drag strip ;)

Well after getting to the 2000 mile mark I decided I would take the 991s to the drag strip to see how it would perform. Any car that comes to this house is destined to go there to see how it stacks up against all of the previous car before it.

Well 1st thing is first this car is fast especially for only having 400 crank hp and here is the proof.

Iam just glad that it is faster than my modded 2011 m3 that this car replaced.

Congratulations! That's a great number. What was the approximate outside temperature during the run?

Found on Fastestlaps.com: 1/4 mile in 11.8s @ 119 mph.
Very consistent with your numbers. Nice!
And yes, very quick for 'only' 400hp...

I see your point about "only" 400 HP, but considering that cars with a lot more HP are just about matching that performance in the quarter mile, then, yes, it is quick for "only" 400 HP.

Temps were in the high 50's low 60's.

My goal is to get the car to run 11.5@120+ stock.
I need to play around with some things and see if it can happen.

Very nice run and the way you've optioned your car it probably weighs in the vicinity of 3200+/- lbs. Were you using stock tires, what was the psi and was your tank close to empty?

That's incredebly fast man for a stock car!

It is so true that with "only" 400 bhp these cars are so fast!

Without going crazy with mods and just peripheral changes do you run faster. Maybe lighter wheels, lighter two piece rotors, cross over pipes, air filters you should see the 11.5 @ 120+ having still a factory car and a factory warranty!!!

any videos?

That is the fastest quarter report I have seen for a 991S. But I am not surprised. Every time I explore acceleration, higher speeds, cornering, braking- my expectations are exceeded. Mine has the same spec as yours and it is just sweet.

I am totally on the same page Pete. I find it great that the 991 does a lot better on the track -or the drag strip- than many other cars that have more hp. It shows how good Porsche's engineering is and that superior performance does not requires a 6 or 7 liter engines and/or big turbo's. A good chassis, light design and a naturally aspirated 3.8 can do wonders.
In addition, Porsche has a tendency to claim less hp than what the car really does...

I have Michelin pilot super sports rears were set at 40 psi cold and fronts were 36 psi cold. Gas tank was actually over 3/4 of a tank.

Sorry no videos but I think I met you before. You used to have a evo with kouzman on the tag? If so I met you at Jimmys or his brothers shop years back. Kouzman is just one of those names you don't forget.

So far I really am enjoying owning this car and can not wait to get it on a road course.
