Thank You All For A Great First Year!
It is hard for me to believe it, but it was one year ago today, and about 7,000 miles ago, that my 991S was delivered to my care. It has been a great year and participating in this site has really added to my enjoyment!
This is the first time that I have ever been an "early adopter" and there are certainly pluses and minuses. I wish I could order a rear view camera as a built-in. I wish I could have avoided some of the issues that come with early production. I wish I had the benefit of all of the posts I read almost daily in guiding my option selection.
On the other hand, it is just now that I am starting to see other 991s on the road - for a long time, I could say I was one of the few on my block, in my neighborhood, in my town, county and state. I bought the car for me, not for anyone else. But the looks I got, particularly early on, I will remember for the rest of my life.
It is a great car. It is not perfect. Low end torque, less rattles, less glare in the ****pit. But it is as perfect as a production car likely gets and as perfect a car as I am likely to own. I will look at the Turbo when it arrives, but this is likely the last 991 that I will ever buy - and I will have no regrets. I have just started to really push the revs up around 5000+ when getting onto a highway or downshifting to pass and WOW! I am not sure I can truly use, or ever really handle, more power. And the car is quite, composed and comfortable when I want it to be. It even has room for luggage - I don't have to go on a trip with either luggage or a wife, but not both (do that in a 458 or Corvette).
But back to topic. Thanks all of you. As good as the car has been, this community has made it better.
I hope you have had a great Passover, Easter, or whatever and to all of you, continue to drive in good health!
And Sid, come back. I won't speak for others - but I miss your wit (and taste in pictures!)
Warmest regards,
Michael

Test drive a Ferrari and Lambo and see how you feel. I offer no conclusions (mainly because I have no interest in a prattle brand fight). Just a recommendation for executing an extended test drive for a weekend.
I was an early adopter of the 997 as well as the 991. As far as my old 2005 997 goes that I retired with 80k miles, I absolutely have no regrets and continue to believe that she was one of the best sports cars ever made. She was an eye opener for any friend that owned an F or L car that never drove a 997. They are all fine cars, but you have something special; it is the benchmark. The first year with a new generation 911 is not as hard as many people make it out to be. My 991 is the third, new generation sports car I've ever owned and I, perhaps unlike some gentlemen, remain extremely satisfied with my choice. Happiness may come from the inside of one's self but I cannot deny the pure excitement experienced every time I get behind the wheel, not to mention the huge grin that cannot be turned off.

AG991, what a lovely post. As you know, your 991S and the performance options you selected were a huge influence on the way I spec'd out my car. After seeing pictures of your car I was comforted on my choice of platinum wheels on a platinum silver car. It was risky but worked out beautifully. It's thanks to folks like you on this forum that makes the ownership experience that much better.
So on your 991 anniversary, a huge congratulations and wishing for you even better times with your car.

Thanks! I have always wanted to drive the L. I have always loved how they look. Until the 458, F cars have never been my thing - beautiful, but not my cup of tea. I did drive the 458. Don't get me wrong, it is a great car. But it was not as comfortable (IMO), was not practical unless you are on your own, and at least for me, it attracted too much attention. I would find it difficult to park and leave, even with someone. My 991 is just on the edge of that. But not over the edge, for me.
Thank you Michael and all -most
- forum members. This great forum just make us enjoy our favorite car even more... and for free
Serge
PS: and like Michael was asking: Sid, WTF are u coming back??? I am tired of searching for bouncy gifs myself...
