I need some help!
Funny parking lot thing happened to me the other day. A big guy in a newish truck came up, stopped behind me and called out to me: "nice car". I said thank you and began to open my door. He said: "How much did that thing cost?". I said: More than I would have liked to have paid, but it's worth it because I'll keep it a long time". He said: "Well, I couldn't afford that, but I could just take yours". Knowing that first, he probably could take it without a weapon and second he probably did have a weapon, I said: No doubt you could but then you would have to leave your nice truck. He smiled and pulled away. Not a comfortable feeling.

I have not only had the same experience, but my first one occurred within 72 hours of taking delivery and resulted in a major dent in the driver's side door
.When people ask me how much it cost I usually say either "30 years of working full time" or "I will let you know when I finish paying for it." I find that the humor, and the reminder that most of us who love these cars work for a living, ends the exchange on a good note.
Park near minivans. At least the rear doors only slide and don't swing out.
I hate discussions like that. Good thing you live in a state with tough gun laws. I would hate to think people that creepy have easy access to guns!

I'm tired of having to humor people to justify my hard work, talents and success, secondary to the rants of our media and politicians. I won't do it, and perhaps at my own peril.
I've decided as we continue along this course that the only thing left to decide is when I've had enough. I imagine there will be plenty of others who want to continue working for the public good, despite the worsening penalties.
Sorry about my rant. I've been around for 59 years and have always tried to respect other folks space, feelings and possessions. I have been professionally and financially successful mostly due to the kindness and guidance of professors and colleagues and was able to move from poverty.
Notwithstanding that i could have outright purchased one years ago I saved, invested, educated my children at colleges grad schools and soon at a professional school.
Just want what I gave to others: just leave me and my car alone. Look, don't touch and keep away. I guess I'm still ranting.

Liberal point of view: it seems to me as if the truck owner was looking to give you added protection (you had the island on one side and now his big truck on the other).
You should have left the conscientious fellow a tip.
Realistic point of view (psyche-101): "See, Mable, my truck's just as good as that there Porsh car is ..."

Perhaps the Raptor owner knows you love your car, and parked far away from others to protect it from door dings. The Raptor owner loves HIS car, and wants the same. If Raptor owner parks next to you rather than out in the open where some unknown person with no respect for cars will ding his passenger side. Perhaps he thought as a Porsche owner, you would protect his passenger side while he protects your driver side.

I need to locate and remove the a**hole magnet that's in the car. Every time I park in the Siberia section some colon end puts his heap next to my 991. The photo was taken in the Target lot in State College Pennsylvania this evening.
Although I was in the store when he parked this beast my wife was sitting in the Porsche and heard the truck's passenger remark "Why did you park so close?" as she carefully exited
I just don't get it. Is it envy? Anger? Jealousy? Stupidity? All of the above?
In my prePorsche owing years (45 years of them) I would always admire them from a distance - and never encroach on a distantly parked p car.
WTF is going on here?

Actually, my wife would have said "No, you're not leaving me all the way out here all by myself. Park closer. I'll make sure no one dings it."
But given the fact that it was a nice truck, i think he was just trying to bond.
Nice! Lasers might be better - less chance of a fragment heading the wrong direction and denting the car!
Looks like he gave you space. I admit, there are plenty of other spots, but I think you a freaking out a little too much. It'd be different of he was snugged up next to your car. If you were that worried, you could have pulled in closer to the island on the passenger side.
