I need to locate and remove the a**hole magnet that's in the car. Every time I park in the Siberia section some colon end puts his heap next to my 991. The photo was taken in the Target lot in State College Pennsylvania this evening.

Although I was in the store when he parked this beast my wife was sitting in the Porsche and heard the truck's passenger remark "Why did you park so close?" as she carefully exited

I just don't get it. Is it envy? Anger? Jealousy? Stupidity? All of the above?

In my prePorsche owing years (45 years of them) I would always admire them from a distance - and never encroach on a distantly parked p car.

WTF is going on here?

I feel your pain! It's an empty parking lot so why do you have to park right next to me? The same thing happens to me and I'm in Texas, the trucking center. Further, the wind blows 30 MPH sometimes so you have to park facing the wind or risk someone's door will blow out of their hand and hit your car.

I hate to park at an angle because I don't think it's thoughtful of others in a full parking space, but I don't mind doing it if the parking lot is empty, I park a long way from the building and I think it will not be full during the time I'm there.

That is a 50K Ford F150 Raptor ... not exactly a heap. The truck is cheated more toward the next space than you are so he s giving more room. I think he's parking next to you so at least one side of his truck is protected. You won't be dinging his truck. Not informed enough to just stay away.

I always park with my drivers door towards the median. I can always get in and pull out if someone parks close to the passenger door.

Also you are parking too far out. You want to be far enough from everyone yet not stick out. I call this creative parking. I always park on the inside closest median I can except near the entrance. If not I pick a nearly empty row and park near the far end.

If you are really intent on keeping someone parking next to you. Keep an old can in the car and place it in the space next to you or turn a cart on its side in the space.

Get thecar to the dealership and ask to swap the truck magnet for a chick magnet. They'll do it under warranty.

How is an old can going to prevent someone from parking next to you?

Man this just happened to me this evening too, even though I didn't park far away (plenty of spots everywhere), and it was a ratty old truck accompanied by a old smoking man.

This is why I almost always park between 2 cars when I park - at least I know where to put my car in relation to the ones already there, and there's a chance that neither will have left when I leave.

I cannot tell you how many times I go to the market...park near the end and find an suv or something similar parked next to me. My first reaction is to get upset and ask "Why out of all the parking spots in the lot must this person park next to me?" Of course, that initial upset goes away after checking my car for dings and finding that its perfect. In this case, maybe he was just admiring your Porsche and wanted his nice truck to be parked next to something much more valuable. Shrug it off...life is too short to get upset about a parking spot (I am talking to myself here as well) although I completely know where you're coming from and experience it from time to time. Obviously if there was a dent/ding in your vehicle....that would be more reason to be upset but in this case, I think you just have an admirer.

Yes, this is an F150 but this is a variation of the FX2/FX4 models. Raptor's are flared from the body and much more wider. Good assessment btw but it sounds like he has a passenger in the car so not exactly the best reasoning for parking next to a 911 IMO.

After going to the COKER TIRE CAR SHOW in Chattanooga yesterday I would rather have 50k truck parked next to me than some if those chicks that were at that car show.

While this display of human behavior is similar to those people who attempt to sit on my lap in a virtually empty movie theater, this individual was extremely generous with the amount of space he left you.

I have often had this happen in deserted parking lots, and the only thing I can think of is a desire to associate or a need to intimidate.
Personally I stumped and I feel your pain...

I agree with LotF, but I also understand where you're coming from. The lot is empty, why did he park next to you? He could have parked behind you if he wanted to check out your car.

I like the curb side spots and try to get the ones where the passenger side is by the curb (many people are alone). But I park snug to the curb.

The worst offending cars in my neck of the woods are 15 year old Saturns covered with bumper stickers that have clever little sayings ("don't frack with our water") - just check where the employees park at Whole Foods. Half of the cars fit this description. The drivers of those cars - usually with purple hair and piercings - seem to like making a social statement by parking tight next to nice cars that are parked out of the way.

Liberal point of view: it seems to me as if the truck owner was looking to give you added protection (you had the island on one side and now his big truck on the other).
You should have left the conscientious fellow a tip.

Realistic point of view (psyche-101): "See, Mable, my truck's just as good as that there Porsh car is ..."

Funny parking lot thing happened to me the other day. A big guy in a newish truck came up, stopped behind me and called out to me: "nice car". I said thank you and began to open my door. He said: "How much did that thing cost?". I said: More than I would have liked to have paid, but it's worth it because I'll keep it a long time". He said: "Well, I couldn't afford that, but I could just take yours". Knowing that first, he probably could take it without a weapon and second he probably did have a weapon, I said: No doubt you could but then you would have to leave your nice truck. He smiled and pulled away. Not a comfortable feeling.

He really said that?!?!?!? Damn. Often times recently I truly feel like I am living "Atlas Shrugged". Soon it will be time for the looters to confiscate our cars for the public good. The only thing left to decide is when to give up and give in.....

Sorry about my rant. I've been around for 59 years and have always tried to respect other folks space, feelings and possessions. I have been professionally and financially successful mostly due to the kindness and guidance of professors and colleagues and was able to move from poverty.

Notwithstanding that i could have outright purchased one years ago I saved, invested, educated my children at colleges grad schools and soon at a professional school.

Just want what I gave to others: just leave me and my car alone. Look, don't touch and keep away. I guess I'm still ranting.
