I feel that the most common reasons for a 991 C2 owner not getting a Turbo is:

#1 The Turbo isn't out, yet
#2 Cost (even for those who would have waited)

I don't know of a single person that ever got in a Turbo and said,"Eh, I prefer a C2."
There were several posters in the 997 section who much preferred the C2S . Many of them felt that the AWD detracted from the cars nimble agility . They also felt that turgo lag was something that a slower and cheaper NA car did not have .

With the case against turbo lag I maintained that a stock 997.1 turbo did have some and the 997.2tt had less but that the tuners created the ability to reduce it tremendously . I had hoped that the 991tt was going to be a tri turbo but since the car isn't out yet its really a wait and see.

Regarding AWD -- It is less agile and a Gt2 better be driven with a lot of care because that type of Hp in a rear wheel drive on a track is quite different than on the street in a rain storm or snow .

Regarding "cost" - All of the 991 cars have jumped in price over the 997 but the 991S with all the options. In fact back in the old days a Turbo "S" was more exclusive and limited in production . In short the gap is becoming more narrow and in my opinion it's making the Turbo S is the better value if opting to buy a new car.

Regarding used cars .. The entire used line of 997 cars , 997 Turbos and even the 991S .. all have become very appealing.

I'm sure they SAID they preferred a C2S over a Turbo, but that might just be seeking an external validation for other internal reasons.

And yes, the 997.1 appeared to have a problem with turbo lag (MUCH less than other Turbo cars coming out around that time). This phenomenon is not as prevalent as it once was. I'd suggest that with the 991 (not the 997), the torque delivery will be much more linear than in the past, and blur that line between an N/A torque curve, and the Turbo torque curve.

Why am I bringing this up? Because, to me, the Turbo is just an AWD version with more power than the C2. The C4S has the same relationship to the C2. They are all 911's, and keeping them in the 991 forum may actually steer someone's attention to another trim level they were not considering before.

But then again - there is always the flip side, and that means more threads about one chassis type, which may be harder to search through.

There is now a 991 forum and a new 991Turbo forum. I recently posted a question on each. I put a question about optioning a Turbo on the 991 forum, not the 991 Turbo forum. I also posted one on the Turbo forum - different issue and question. I don't have a Turbo (obviously) but like many, am thinking/lusting after one. So where do I post new threads about the Turbo. There are consistently more people cruising the 991 forum, so if I want to hit a broader audience for an answer, that would make sense. But, am I violating some written or unwritten practice - should it always be on the Turbo forum?

This is my only experience on a BB so I am still learning. As always, thanks for your input!
oh heck man. We're Porsche enthusiasts on a great forum. You can always do a forum search on 'Turbo' in a specific forum.

As far as I'm concerned, post it anywhere.
