What is proper forum etiquette????
Eddtiff and Chupacabra raised an issue on another thread (and thanks for your input guys- as this is the only BB I participate in I seem to not be able to get over how cool it is to have conversations with people in both Orlando and Hong Kong about something we all enjoy - but I digress) that got me thinking.
There is now a 991 forum and a new 991Turbo forum. I recently posted a question on each. I put a question about optioning a Turbo on the 991 forum, not the 991 Turbo forum. I also posted one on the Turbo forum - different issue and question. I don't have a Turbo (obviously) but like many, am thinking/lusting after one. So where do I post new threads about the Turbo. There are consistently more people cruising the 991 forum, so if I want to hit a broader audience for an answer, that would make sense. But, am I violating some written or unwritten practice - should it always be on the Turbo forum?
This is my only experience on a BB so I am still learning. As always, thanks for your input!

I'd say only post in Turbo.
That way anyone looking to garner info about their potential turbo purchase will be able go there and and one-stop shop. Should not be on the regular 991 forum.
As interest grows around the Turbo, that forum will have more users populating accordingly - it just takes a little time.
It also makes the lives of the moderators so much easier and allows for a far more structured and cleaner forum.
Just my $0.02...

Hope I didn't ruffle any feathers. I tried to be polite about it.
I know we get more traffic than the turbo section right now. I'm sure it was like that here before the 991 was released. It's usually best to post on the relevant forums. If needed, the mods can rearrange posts though. It's not like a flame war was started, right?

What I found in the past is that the forum specific posts generally find a more unified sentiment about that car .The 991S generally attracts those who like the seamless throttle precision of a normally aspirated 911 whereas the turbo drivers tend to enjoy the hammer like acceleration of a Turbo . I found this out mostly because at one point i had both a 997.2 S and a 997tt and posted in both forums. It amazed me how different the views on the cars were .Sometimes when those differences are discussed it shed a more insightful perspective on both cars .
I feel that the majority of times a poster gets directed to the specific forum is when a more detailed topic on that car is raised. For instance if a question about a turbo boost problem was raised in a 991S forum it would be directed there (etc).

Actually I didn't know the 991 Turbo forum existed until AG991 pointed me in the right direction
I think the ideal place is to put in the Turbo forum because I mean after all it is the Turbo we are talking about. Numbers/exposure wise, for now people will probably hit the 991 forum more because:
1. it has been around for longer
2. it caters for the other 991 variants

Being in the same situation, I have to admit that they should probably raise prices significantly, if so many of us are thinking about taking a hit and switch for a Turbo.....Great consumers we are!

Don't even suggest that! They might be listening! More low end torque in the base and S, for the current price. That is what we need.i
Thanks Chuck!
^+1! In fact, except maybe for deeply technical engine tuning topics, I would even question to have a 991 Turbo vs other 991's forum. It's true that we can always check several forums, but a lot of the comments, feedback, basic mods would be of interest to all 991 owners.
The 991 GT3 case will even be worse since it will end up in a generic GT3/GT2/GT thread with all generations of cars.
Just my own 2 cents. No big deal.

I feel that the most common reasons for a 991 C2 owner not getting a Turbo is:
#1 The Turbo isn't out, yet
#2 Cost (even for those who would have waited)
I don't know of a single person that ever got in a Turbo and said,"Eh, I prefer a C2." I HAVE seen quite a few people prefer a GT3 over a Turbo, mainly because of the fun to be had (with a potentially slower car). But that is not what is being compared here with the two forums.
I don't see a problem with a single 991 forum. Because if we parse out the multiple forums for all of the trim levels (to make things trim level specific), then we would end up with those 32 different sub-forums for each generation (because then we'd need a Cabriolet forum, for people with topics regarding their topless experience, a C4S forum, for people with topics regarding their narrow widebody panels, etc...).
I think the current format works fairly well, I like the Cayenne section (where I've been doing my research), but sometimes I may have a question or concern about a car, but I'm not sure which forums to search for (or I'm searching the wrong one).
