Oil Change Issue - Second Bypass Filter Stripped
Oil Change Issue - Second Bypass Filter Stripped
Hey All,
New owner of a 2007 V8 Vantage and when doing the first oil change one of the two bolts in the rear most bypass filter was stripped out/seized as even when the torx was fully seated it snapped it off inside and didn't turn whatsoever. Rather than keep fighting it I just left that bypass filter untouched, put the other bolt back in and refilled with oil.
Is there any concern in driving the car without that bypass o ring replaced? Note that I was able to change the main oil filter, drain plug, washer on front drain plug, and one of the bypass o rings. Replace with new Motul 8100 10w-60 oil as well.
My plan was to drive it for a while and then have a shop address the seized bolt at my next oil change interval.
