991 Cabriolet top cleaner/protectant

I have searched the web and found similar topics with answers for 997s but Porsche has stated that the 991 cabriolet roof is a new type of fabric (and from washing it, it really acts more like vinyl than canvas.) Because of that, I don't know what type of cleaner and protectant to use -one for vinyl or one for canvas fabric? I also don't know if I can use car wash soap on the roof without it losing some of its hydrophobic characteristics (when I got some foam on the top from my foam gun, it stopped beading in some areas.)

For many of those reasons, I am thinking about just running to my dealer and overpaying for a small bottle of cleaner and protectant. I am not a novice to detailing (used to run a small detail shop in high school and the first summer of college), so I know all about different brands, Raggtop, 303, etc, but I don't have too much experience with convertibles.

I am in need of some feedback of a type of soap to use on the top, a cleaner, and a protectant. The soap I currently use is Meguiar's Gold Class, DP Foam Gel (for the foam gun), and I am about to order some Chemical Guys shampoo for the foam gun. From what I read, Porsche recommends a soap with no shine characteristics, just a mild cleaner.

Thanks for the help!

Ditto. I would love some advice on how to clean the current convertible top.

the porsche cleaner/cond is the same for the 991 and 997 cab tops.

I only use water and no soap on the top when doing my routine car wash.
I use ragg top about every 18months. I think P recommends 24months

Regarding the RaggTopp: are we supposed to use the fabric or vinyl convertible top protectant. I know Porsche says it's "fabric" but in my experience the water beads and reacts like vinyl. Which is correct?

top is fabric, not vinyl. it's just less porous than the fabric used before.
