I have a manual Turbo and had a PDK 997.2 S and am one of the few folks who happens to like both equally . I find that the PDK shines where the manual falters and visa versa . For instance a PDK car will NOT over rev . It will even ignore an over rev command which in itself is a major engine saver . The manual however places not just a hands on experience but includes the feet too . I find the cerebral component of rowing the gears very fullfilling .
In my opinion however you have a 104K base car optioned and I would save the money on PSE as well as PDK and go for a manual S. The extra power is something you will never debate with yourself .
Personally .. and this is my strong opinion .. I would not buy a base car . I feel that 100K is either close enough to an S or even better spent on a CPO 997 GTS or Turbo .
If a custom build 991 is the way you must go then an S and manual .
Although . I just looked at your color choice (guards red) and in my many searches I found a red C2S with PDK . It's not my personal color choice but it's so close to yoir build . See here .

My feeling is that with the depreciation of these cars it is very important to get the right car. I would not be saying the same point if he were talking about buying a low mile used CPO GT3 or Boxster Spyder because those cars are still asking the same prices today as one year ago . In short a guy who buys a limited edition car used is not at risk to lose approx 40K in two years if he decided to sell it . In fact some of the used cars are getting so close to a year ago that if one is tired of losing money on cars its an avenue worth evaluating .
But if one must have a 991 which is the latest model and I think of where the car is strongest it's my opinion it's the improved PDK . It really is that good . But if there is a price ceiling then the engine choice is crucial .

I have a manual with PSE. The PSE is particularly nice when downshifting from higher RPM's. The sound at that point is intoxicating.
The new manual's with sport chrono have rev-matching so you can downshift with a bit more easily.
My car does not have the rev-matching feature so I have to do the rev-match manually. This is really satisfying when done right but if I ever wish I had PDK it would be for the ease and safety of downshifting combined with the PSE sound.
For my general daily use where I drive mostly for fun and with fairly light traffic, I love the MT.

OK, guys: You've convinced me. I'm upgrading to the S instead of the base model. However, I've listened to sound clips of the S with and w/o the PSE and although they both sound great, I'll economize on that and not order the PSE. Down the road I might decide to get an aftermarket exhaust but it seems to me that the S already sounds great.
As for the debate over which transmission to get, I know that my wife would be far more likely to drive the car if it were the PDK than with the M7. Traffic in Miami is such that she'd be much more comfortable with the PDK. I like both transmissions and whenever I need to row through gears, I have a pristine '63 Austin-Healey 3000 to have fun with.

No sure if you've already answered this question, but how do you plan to use the car.
Track, Daily Driver, Cross country commutes?
Depending on your habits, you may want to consider PDCC to address ride comfort and / or the all important Sport Chrono to go with your PDK..
Yes, this process can lead to insanity..

I thought about adding Sport Chrono but at age 66 I don't do the kind of driving that calls for launch control. I'll be quite satisfied being able to do 0-60 in 4.1 seconds that I don't need to drop an additional $1,850 to shave .2 seconds off of that. My motto is, "There are bold men and there are old men but you rarely encounter bold old men".
Dux, to answer your question, I'll probably never track the car, will use it as a DD with occasional 3-hour trips across Alligator Alley between Miami and Sanibel.

Based on your driving habits, you'll be fine with what you have.
A Sunroof might be nice for the Alligator Alley drive (now that they've fixed the rattles).
If you are the time, opt for European delivery and have a Fall vacation zipping through the Black Forest and the Alps.
All the best with your purchase.
OK, this is it! I'm not changing the order again! Trusting everyone's advice I have added Sport Chrono. The FINAL config:

What started out as an $85K Cayman S turned into a $120K Carrera S. I'll post the build sheet once my dealer emails it to me.
