Mr. Clean AutoDry Car Wash System Starter Kit

Hi

Has anyone used this before?
It is much cheaper than the de-ionized system. Will be great if it actually works.

I've used this product for the past few years. It does work when you keep the cartridges changed. The only issue is the stream of water created is quite low and it takes a while to do the whole car. It will create the desired effect.

I would also recommend that you not use the sprayer for detergent dispensing. It releases too much and then it is hard to remove and creates spots. The other problem was I could never get the detergent not to leak during storage. As a matter of fact, the current one I have actually glued itself into the case and I can't remove!

Funny I was just thinking if I should get a new one?

Pcar's assessment is right on! All issues he noted are the same I have had, weak water flow, need to change cartridges timely, and leaking detergent (I thought that was only me!). But the de-ionizing water part after rinse does work pretty well.

I will most likely use my own detergent/sponge to wash it. Mainly getting this for the de-ionized filtered water.

But I heard Mr. Clean doesn't make this product anymore. Will we run into the problem of getting the filter cartridge?

If you can't get the filters the product is obviously useless. As I said before, if you want to keep the outcome spot free you are going to use a lot of filters.

I'm going to stop at Pep Boys this weekend to see if they are selling the filters individually still. I purchased them from there in the past and also Target. If they have them I'll purchase enough to get me through the summer.

Mr. Clean has stopped producing the system due to poor sales.

I'd recently went with the item I'd posted below and am delighted with the results. The end result is the same as the more expensive dual cartridge system, which is meant for heavier use.

I also buy the replacement material in bulk which helps make things more cost effective. But if you own a black car, this thing is priceless, as the results are absolutely amazing.

You can still get the cartridge on Ebay and some websites, but I don't think anyone is really selling them in stores now.

I would totally go for this if I live in a house with driveway and garage. I live in a condo building so I need something compact and carry around in my car.

How many washes are you doing before you are replacing the resin? I realize that this will be dependent on the water quality at your home. What is the size of your purchase of the resin in bulk?
Thanks!

Pcar, I recommend buying a Pentek pre-filter from Amazon as it will extend the life of the resin and reduce costs. I use the resin over the entire driving season then replace it, so once a year. The resin will grow mold in it over the winter.

The 991 is a nicely shaped car that washes very easily. Once you develop a system for washing the car, you should get pretty good mileage out of the resin (I figure between 12 and 15 washes).

When you realize the effectiveness and the piece of mind this system offers, the overall cost will seem moot. I guess it boils down to one's priorities: one night out in Manhattan can easily cost the same amount as a replacement drum of resin.

Used it for years. Don't use the recommended detergent. I use Mcguires. Never leaked. Get solid pressure. Changed filters as required. For 7 years my black 997 came out looking spotless. At 80k miles it still looked brand new.
