991 50th anniversary model
Despite that, the color of my car coudn't be changed anymore. The only thing they could do is cancel the order and make a new one in oryx white and they should try to get that order on the same production date, so that it didn't have to go to the back of the line.
I asked them to cancel the car, which they did, but I didn't place a new order.

But I think its a good idea to wait for the Targa. It will be a very cool car, very unique and with less attitude then the Turbo. And it will look great in white metallic. Probably the P-car that suits you best?
I was very busy recently so it took me a while to say that I am really sorry to hear that the guys in Zuffenhausen could not work this out anymore. Must have been a tough decision to cancel your order, after having evaluated it for such a long time. What a shame. But I think its a good idea to wait for the Targa. It was not an easy decision to cancel the order, but on the other hand, it seemed to be the right thing to do. I was glad they did understand it and didn't make a point of it. In the end, I had signed a contract, so they could have made it a lot less easy for me.

During the Zuffenhausen factory tour last week we saw some 991 Targa mock-ups and samples of the curved rear glass - will be a very nice car with sensible proportions...

Suzy, I am very sorry to hear about you situation with Porsche. I hope and believe these things work out for the best.
I had a Cayman S on order for three months and one day on the tracking report I noticed the color said Rhodium Silver. I ordered Platinum. I asked what happened and they said Platinum was discontinued and Rhodium was the replacement and sorry no one told me. The dealer claims that it was Porsche that made the change but I have my suspicions. There were no paint sample of Rhodium for me to see for over a month. When I finally saw the color my heart just sank because I really like Platinum and really dislike Rhodium. My first Porsche and the only car I have ever custom ordered was going to be in a color I did not like. To say I was really pissed is an understatement. I told them to stuff the order and thought I should rethink things and see what my options were. Long story short I ended up with what I think is a better car and the dealer still has the Rhodium Cayman on the lot.
Perhaps you will end up with the new Targa or some other car and be much happier in the end.

With what car I end up, I really don't know yet... My mind was set on a C4S and I still think it's the best choice and best looking 991.
On the other hand, I've had an oppertunity to testdrive the Alfa Romeo 4C last saturday and I was very impressed. Not the quality of a Boxster/Cayman, but twice the fun. It's a kind of better build, more luxurious lotus Elise. It fits right in between the 981 and the lotus Exige I think. I may even end up with a 4C and a new Boxster S with PDK instead of a 991... Two for the price of one, albeit not a 911

Suzy,
i agree with you, having two cars for the price of one is a good thing to do IMO. i am not underestimating the 911, i love my car and i don't regret getting one, was a dream car for me. but recently i rented a base Boxter while i was on a business trip for few days, i was shocked how fun the car was, and i never felt that the car needs more power, its different than the 911, not better and not worse, just different. after driving the boxter for couple of days i started to think the same way you are thinking now. if you plan to wait, you are doing the right thing of waiting for the Targa, looks like for the 991 model, the Targa will be the most special one!

LOL I would prefer 7 Abarth 695s though
The Alfa 4C is not a car that is usable for everyone. With the absence of powersteering, it's working hard compared to most other modern cars. You're constantly adjusting the steering. It's a nervous car to drive, that wants to go around corners, but not in a straight line.
My girlfriend would probably not want to drive that car. It's not really comfortable, no luxury inside. It's just a pure driver's car. I love that, but not every time I use a car. The Boxster would compliment the 4C perfectly for my taste, but I would want a PDK in that case. Not that I don't like the manual in the one I drive now, but I like a PDK more.
Getting a new Boxster S and a 4C would even save me some money compared to the C4S I had on order.

4c is a car you will loose interest in real fast. Good for 10/10 driving, the rest not so much. I test drove an exige s, brilliant drivers car for 10/10, but for dd or weekend trips, no way.
I will never loose interest in any Alfa Romeo BTW. I have always had a weak spot for the brand (even more than Porsche). It was my uncle's fully restored '72 Montreal that gave me the first goosebumps all over with its exhaust note, when I was 6. I had no idea what happened but it made my parents realize that I had something with cars. LOL. Still get goosebumps when I hear that magnificent small V8.
The 4C could be the car that brings a bit of the glorious days from the past back for the brand. At least I hope it does.
But enough about me and Alfa Romeo. This is a 911-50 thread, so back on topic.

Amazing. The perfect spec. Enjoy.
but the first 911 with the sport design mirrors if am not mistaken
which we definitely need feedback on
and enjoy your 50th in good health
