991 pdk vs. 997 pdk....
In previous threads here, there has been a lot of discussion how the pdk on the 991 is vastly improved from that in the 997, and certainly can be a deciding factor in choosing between the two. However, I don't think that is entirely correct. It is my understanding that the second-generation pdk started with the 997.2 TTS. The "first generation" pdk was used in all 997.2 C2 and C4 variants, and then into the TT. However, the TTS--the last 997--has the newer, second-generation unit, although the company hasn't wanted to advertise this fact. This, of course, helps makes the 997.2 TTS pdk vastly superior to tbe 997.2 TT pdk.
So, for those who want pdk and also the 997.2 driving characeristics, the 997.2 TTS is clearly the best way to go.
Correct me if I'm mistaken!

I happen to love the 997.2tts but it does not have the same PDK found in the 991 . I think Porsche makes slight improvements to every car with time but the 991 unit is by far the best . What the 997.2tts has all over the 991S is speed and exclusivity at the same price (tt cars are used priced in line with new 991S cars)
Also the PDK mated to the Turbo makes the car an absolute beast .
I watched the Chris Harris reviews multiple times as well as the Getawayer (BTW I think he posted here at one time if i recall correctly) .
Two things that stands out in the auto journalists reviews of modern Porsches are the discussion on PDK as well as the electric steering .
I don't always agree with auto journalists but it sems like every time they come to the 991 the praise comes with some type of philosophical hesitation. That is exactly how I feel when I consider the 991. I am not sure if it's because the 997 was such a tough act to follow but these same journalists also fall in love with the Boxster and Cayman because they are that much better than the act they followed .
At some point I hope to see the 911 car which makes me want to trade my Turbo . Thus far nothing has come close . I have always made this effort to keep the Turbo.
I had not considered a Gt3 buit I have to say that I do think the Gt3 will be the king of the 991 model line for the following reasons :
1) The steering is addressed . Up until now it seems like the smaller Boxster and Cayman handle the electic steering (due to size, weight, mid engine config) fairly well but Porsche has to address it to pin down the Gt3 .
2) The PDK will be even more agressive , faster shifting , more precise . This points directly to your PDK question because i have a feeling it will be the best PDK in a Porsche (in real time) .. PERIOD.
3) The high rev of 9K will make substantial pureness of the NA engine
The new Gt3 speced nicely comes out to under 150K which really isn't a monster leap from a highly opted 991S and will be much more fun to drive than a 997ttS .
My persnal biggest snag with the new Gt3 is that it may be the best 991 but South Florida lacks the roads to accomodate it .
