Trim strips option

Does the option "Trim strips in a high-gloss finish" look any good on a white 991?

It looks great on a car with a darker hue, but I wasn't so sure on white.

Around the windows? I think it's too American. The less chrome/shiny stuff, the better, IMO.

I think it depends on the look you are going for. I have it ordered on a GT silver 4S with the sport techno's painted black.

I think it looks great in the video

Not sure it would work best with white but it would depend on other options. I don't understand the reference to being too American, I like bits of shiny on certain color combo's.

It looks good with GT Silver as the hue is darker. As white is so bright already, perhaps the standard black suits it well enough. Nice black techno's btw!

American cars have always been heavily laden with chrome, a hallmark of their Golden Age of the 50s and 60s. A lot of European cars built for America had chrome edging around wheel wells and other shiny trim strips, spears, rockers, etc that weren't found on the domestic version for Europe. Anyway, I thought you were referring to the bright molding around the windows on the exterior, and option I considered but decided to leave all exterior trim black. If that's the strips you're referring to, I agree it gives a more finished look so go for it if it's what you like. I just wanted to explain my "too American" which I wasn't trying to offend with. If I did, I apologize.

Thanks for clarification Sanibel. Yeah, I am indeed referring to the bits that surround the windows.

Still on the fence on the trim + white combo. Thus, wanted to get more opinions here.

i did contemplate that option for the white 991 i ordered but decided against it as thought its overkill and not very distinctive. better to use the money elsewhere ie aluminium/carbon door sills, or coloured instrument backing.

For what it's worth, my (European) opinion

The chrome trim gives the car a classic touch, accenting the signature shape of the side windows. It goes perfectly with the dark colors and with the silver colors. The black trim gives the car a sporty touch IMHO.
On Guards Red, Racing Yellow, Sapphire Blue and White, I would go for the black trim. On all the other colors you can go with both trims, depending on your taste.

I completely agree, black sporty, chrome classic.
I have the stock black trim on my white car with platinum silk gloss wheels and I like the contrast and the sporty look it gives the car.

Enhances the lines oh so subtly.

I didn't think it was possible to be "too American" . I like the stainless / bright trim. My black trim is already looking aged, which would not happen with the bright trim. In fact, I'd like to swap mine. Wonder if its possible?

I think it depends if they install the trims at the factory in Germany or locally at the dealership. If the latter, then it should be possible to swap them out.
