I'm not very good at creating these, expect the graphic artist to do that (so keep negatives to a min txs). Also some of the suggestions are way beyond my knowledge base, since I missed the 80's space frenzy (purposely).

nice choice!! so give me your 2c on the second set of icons. I kinda think one button in red would really look neat....but unsure if seat eject, race track or the female search button would be best.
