Service Now message

I have a new 991 S Cab and it only has 400 miles on it. I noticed that the message "service now" and "change oil now" come on whenever I switch it on. Oil level says it's ok. Any idea before I drive 2 hrs back to dealer

Oh yeah I notice that smell too ancient have no idea what cosmoline is?

If the car was put in service a year ago, you'll get that message no matter how many miles on your odometer.

If its a relatively new car doing this, less than a few months old, I would take it in. Have the dealer reset some things and make sure there's no busted or loose sensors. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Let us know how it goes.

Didn't for me. I sent it back and had the dealer reset the light in my 991.

That's a bummer. BTW-they haven't used cosmoline in years. In the old days, they use to spray it over the cars before shipping to protect against salt water.

There is an update in software notice I received from Porsche and it may fix it. Call your dealer about it.

Hmmm...this is the 4th time (3rd time I brought it in to reset) I seem to be getting the same message pop up on my dash. My car is newly delivered, only a month old and 800kms on the clock. Quite annoying. Did you ever find out what the real problem was and how did they fix it? I called the sales rep at the dealership and he's now puzzled why it keeps happening. Help pls!

Have had the same issue for a month and a half now. The most recent release of Durametric can reset the normal service interval alert, but this one seems to be a bug in the 991 software. I brought it back to the dealership twice, they reset it... and the message came back a couple of days later. The dealership tells me not to worry and that they will get a software update from Germany to fix the issue. I do not know what triggered the issue in the first place though (it started in fact after my first service!). Annoying but nothing dramatic.

According to my dealer this is a known fault that Porsche hasn't come up with a solution for yet. Just have it reset by the dealer or someone with a Durametric if that can be used to reset.
