yeah well.

We have a saying here in Holland. You might be able to relate to this since you are all cowboys over there

When you are spoiled 'Someone is lifted over the horse'
I think some employees in Europe (especially in the more southern countries) are 'chucked over the stables'

goverment officials 'earning' 80k euro a year for doing f%^$&^% all.....

I have a great job. However to attract and retain the best talent in our industry we have a very good vacation system. I get 11 stat holidays, 24 Friday's off a year and 6 weeks vacation!

I have an office in Europe. We do pay 13 months of pay there, there is one month of "vacation pay" that is paid in May every year. We also provide 25 days off (work days) min.

None of this is as outrageous as how hard it is to get rid of a problem employee. In NL and GB (I've had offices in both) you are basically marrying the person and getting a divorce can be very expensive. I had a GM in NL who missed his commit numbers 2 years in a row. When I started to put him on a plan he went out on stress leave, at full pay, for 8 months and then I had to write him a check for $150K Euros to get rid of him.

Very, very expensive to do business over there.

Not much of an incentive to be an employer.

It is sure different here. In DC Walmart canceled its plans for construction of a new store just because that city's government enacted a $12 per hour minimum wage. Richest store in the galaxy whining about paying a living wage. You can't live in DC on bu%%f@&k Arkansas wages.

I have had a great job for the past years. For 33 years i make my own hours take as many vacations as I can stand and this Saturday marks the 27th year I have been an employee I'm in charge of funding and my employer er uh my wife is head of acquisitions

Absolutely NO reason Walmart should pay more then the minimum wage required as compared to the rest of the businesses in the state of DC.

They planned to open 6 stores. Now it will only be 1.

Good for Walmart!

Good for Walmart!! When the government starts dictating how a company should run its business, there will eventually be no business.

Let's see, last year:
Walmart had a net profit of 3.79%
Microsoft 21.58%
Google 20.98%
Apple 23.46%
and against its peers:
Staples -.76%
Costco 1.7%

I'm glad I own Walmart stock and not Staples, but I'd rather it be Apple!

The average wage across the country for Walmart is $12.78

"The US is going down the same path as Europe due to people like Obama." Whether thats good or bad you be the judge.
If Hiliary gets in the white house in '16 I believe the Union must consider splitting up.
