Frank69, I had it applied to my Jet Black Metallic Cayenne, where I didn't do Xpel. So the door, quarter panels, roof and A pillars. I found after it cured that the doors would mar when drying. I am OCD when it comes to washing my cars. The doors never marred without the opticoat. I had all the opit-coat polished off.

My C4S is straight black. I have no issues with swirls. Presoak with a foam gun, use 2 buckets w. grit guards to wash, and waffle weave micro fiber towels to dry and you should be all set.

Hey Frank, mine looks like that for the first mile....lol
Straight Black is a deeper black.
As stated, Basalt black is more forgiving. My car is garaged and I've got the clear bra and also did the paint sealant (Griots) myself.
One of the things that is hardly talked about is heat..... My black on black 991 is a very hot car in the latest 90+ heatwave we are having in the Northeast.
I may have reconsidered if I had to order it over again.

I have basalt black and have been very impressed with the lack of swirls marks visible. I've always owned black cars...BMW, Mercedes, Acura... And the basalt hides the dirt the best of all those. It's still labor intensive to keep clean but well worth it.

I spent weeks laboring over Basalt Black vs. flat Black on the 991 before I ordered it. I ended up with flat Black because Basalt Black has some gold flakes in it and it looked especially dull in the sun compared to a flat Black. You should really go to the dealer to compare. And, I wasn't digging on the gold flakes.

Frank, beautiful! But how long does it stay like that vs. how long did it take for you to make it look that good? Oh the labor of love...
