Just be aware that if you do get something for "free", it may not be worth the aggravation. Just as an example, if you get the dealer to throw in the clear bra, they may do a lousy job on it and you may be just better off getting it done by a specialized shop. The forum is complete with many posts of the dealer doing less than adequate jobs installing clear bras, radar detectors, etc.

For every year thus far, 5% has been the average discount for the new model year ~ July, Aug, Sept (not year end deals which run higher).

I am not sure what leverage you have at this juncture, and if others on this board negotiated their final price at the time of delivery or at the time when the order was placed?

The full clear bra retails for $1899 if I go direct to the vendor that does my dealer's cars. They've been doing it for 14 years and are very highly regarded - SW Florida Clear Bra & Tint, located in Fort Myers and in Naples. They do all the high-end cars. My dealer charges $2350. I figure their cost is less than $1899 so I'm going to first ask them to throw in the full bra but don't actually expect them to give me that, no matter how much of a guilt trip I lay on them for giving me only 2% off. I'll be happy if I get the bra for their cost and also get clear side markers. Maybe also get them to add spacers for free. I'll see how hard I can push them. Even if I get zip, I'm a big boy and am not having buyer's remorse. In the grand scheme of things, the money isn't a big deal to me because the car is what it's all about.

Use a vendor directly. I used the dealer and their vendor did an incredibly sh&tty job twice. They made him redo it and he screwed it up again. They finally refunded to me.

Dealers shop for convenient and cheap vendors. It hurts their reputations

The vendor I would go directly to IS the vendor for my Porsche dealer. Same work, just less money but more hassle to go directly. The dealer charges $2350 for the full bra, retail at the vendor that does it is $1899. The dealer pays less than that. I want the dealer to comp me the entire cost (unlikely but worth asking) or at least do it at their cost.

mas8002mi is infamous around these parts
if u have already negotiated a 2% off, it is very unlikely the dealer will do any extras.... especially something like $1900.....

how much did u put down?

Exactly. They've already made the sale and you agreed the price. What incentive do they have to throw anything in? Even if they throw it in, how do they know you will be happy. They MIGHT deal on something at their cost, but I think you'll be lucky to get that. I did the same thing once on a deal. The guy offered me the roof rack I wanted at higher than I could get on the net. I just blew them off. Once the deal is done it's done. Unless they somehow did you wrong, in which case they should offer to make you feel the deal was fair (had this happen and the dealer went out of their way including offering to buy the car back). Post what you get, but I suggest you don't get too optimistic, especially if you think you're going to get $2k in value- I think that's dreaming.

I sent my salesman an email this morning and asked for free side markers and a clear bra. Retail value is about $1500 for both. He asked his boss who okayed it. All I had to do was ask. I should've also asked for spacers and aluminum pedals!

+1

A deal is a deal. Why should they feel guilty? Maybe softly mention it to them, but certainly don't show up with a list from 6speed, or go quoting what others say they got.

Like you say, it isn't much $ and why lose their good will.

Nice of them on the throw ins!

Fantom, please scroll up and reread my post. I asked for and received $1500-worth of extras. Maybe if I'd have asked for more, I might have gotten more. But I'm quite content. It was a nice goodwill gesture on their part and will go a long way toward dealership loyalty on my part.

They probably felt guilty for giving you so much less than is typical.

They may also be aware that you are active online and want to enhance their reputation.

I made them feel guilty by claiming that all my online correspondents had told me of discounts ranging from 4% to 8%. I also told them that I don't have buyer's remorse but am kicking myself for not having shopped before ordering. I told them they'll buy a lot of goodwill and that their actual, out-of-pocket costs will be less than 1%. And they went for it. Nice folks. I highly recommend them: Porsche of Fort Myers. Terry Weeks is a really nice fellow and very willing to help and very patient. His boss, the sales manager, is Ed Trombley is also a mensch.

Oh, and the best part is that they use Southwest Florida Clear Bra and Tint, the best in the area. In business 14 years and they do all the better marques in the area. So, I'm not getting a lousy install by some novice. It's all good. Thanks everyone for your help!
