Appeal to her objectivity. The 991 is a heavier car and so it is safer in case of an accident. With its rear engine design, it is more sure-footed in bad weather. Because of (pick an ache or pain - knees, back, etc), it is easier FOR ME to get in and out of. (Here's what not to say: It is easier FOR YOU to get in and out of - she might translate that into "are you say I'm getting fat?"). Or you could tell her that Warren Buffet does not believe in leaving money to his children and so you're following his sage advice!

911-50 is infamous around these parts
On rennlist, there is currently a discussion going on weather the 911 is a chick magnet or not. General conclusion: It is way more of a guy magnet. If she also gets to ride the car, this could help her to make up her mind? :-)

Power point presentation 1+ !!

Bring in the "lighter on gas" aspect - she should understand that well!

Cheers,

What would my reply have been???

"Because it's something I want. I can afford it. And it's my money."

That would have been the end of it. I'm constantly floored how many guys totally lose their ***** when they get married. Why do you need the wife to approve of your purchase?

I'd certainly keep the wife in the loop and let her know what's going on.... but having to get her approval? NFW.

I might try that, but she might end up owning the 991 in the divorce setllement.

I never have this problem. My wife shares my passion (to a lesser degree offcourse), so I include her in the decision making process.

Actually I am. And before I got married I made the point of having the money talk... among other things.

It's sad, I have too many friends that once they got married, they lost their ***** and have to get the wife to approve just about everything.

My car buddies no longer buy/own the cars they love and constantly settle.

Too bad we older folks who've been married 45 years won't be around long enough to check back with you in a few decades to see where wife #1 (or 2 or 3) is and if you're still the master of your own domain.

Sounds clinical. I hope your formal contractual agreements provide you a fruitful partnership.

Da*n straight!!! I have a Russian mail order wife, and I find this approach works perfectly.
