I Feel Obliged to Look at
Didn't mean to offend you - just pointing out that originality isn't a prerequisite to posting from what I can see.
It's likely that the availability and pricing of the new Corvette in Europe may detract from its apparent bargain status, and in that case this topic may not have international appeal. On this side on the pond, people are creating a run on wife beaters in anticipation of arrival in the showroom.
Originality is prerequisite to posting as far as this is the 991 department of 6speed. Nothing wrong with discussing the Vette here, but I think it is more organized if there's one thread about it. For further discussions about the Vette there is a separate forum for American cars, as there is for all other cars.
I understand why the Vette is an interesting vehicle and why people will cross-shop it with a 991. I'm not that shortsighted that I only like a 991. For example I also like the Audi R8, but if I want to find information about it or want to discuss that car I'll try to do that in the Audi forum here on 6Speed.
That's what I like so much here... Every car has it's own forum. It makes it all very organized and if one has questions about a car, there will always be people that have experience with a certain car in that particulair forum.
But on the other hand...
I'm not a moderator here, so I probably am exaggeraing things a bit. For tha... I will make my apologies

Oh and FWIW, even if the Vette's price here in Europe is a lot higher than in U.S., it's still a bargain compared to some other cars. For me it's the looks and also a bit the image of the Vette here, why I'm not interested in the car. Doesn't mean that I disrespect the car. It's just a matter of personal taste. Too flashy for me
And the Porsche is a bargain compared to a lot of others
I grew up wanting a Porsche. Tried to appease myself with a BMW, lasted a year. Get what you know will make you happy.
PS: I can get 2 sets of clubs in my C2S cab. take driver, 3 wood out lay bags on back seats. driver and 3 wood fit closer to back of front seats.

A Corvette discussion does belong on this forum when it's submitted for the purposes of comparison to the 991. It's in the spirit of Vette vs. Porsche, and in that context it belongs here as much as on the C7 Corvette forum. This is one of the venues where the 991 experts reside, and it's here where I would expect to get intelligent dialogue comparing the two vehicles.
I have owned a few Porsches and more than 30 BMWs and MBs. I have always respected and admired German auto design and fabrication. Conversely, I have been very disappointed over the years with the American manufacturers, and I always thought our best and brightest could come up with world class vehicles if they so desired. Unless I'm mistaken, that may very well be the case with the new Vette.
Corvette has an image problem here as well as in Europe. That's been acknowledged previously. However, let me remind you that many other vehicles introduced in this Country had horrendous image problems. VW (uncomfortable, anemic, and bad or no HVAC), Datsun and Toyota (deemed to be made of recycled tuna cans), Mercedes (boring, ugly, slow, and overpriced), etc. Audi was not held in high esteem, the BMW Bavaria was a disaster, and Volvo and Saab were somewhat comical. The point is, that in most instances the business people and the engineers were able to change the negative image and become successful. I hope that's where Corvette is at this juncture. Moreover, if I'm a Porsche exec, I'm perhaps less dismissive of this kind of competition, particularly if it were followed up by a Cayman-sized model @ $35,000.
I understand you "flashy" comment, although I wouldn't say the GT3 or the Turbo Whale Tail are under the radar. The new Vette is flashy in a Ferrari-like way -- very aggressive looking -- and in my opinion less flashy than the R8. In a conservative color I would say it may very well be less flashy than a white cab with a red interior. In my opinion, all companies, including car manufacturers, do well to keep a keen eye on the rear view mirror to check on the competition. There are many more folks who can afford $65K for a car than $130K, there are many American buyers who wouldn't mind buying a domestic product, and there are many buyers here who feel that Porsche has stuck their middle finger up from time to time when it comes to options, even if you folks in Europe have felt that finger more than we have
I respectfully disagree with most of your post.

I also understand that Americans rather would like to buy domestic products. Everybody would like that of course. Me too... But the only real Dutch manufacturer is Donkervoort and that's not really a car suited for daily driving LOL. Don't even know if you can get those in the U.S. (One of the best trackcars out there, originally based on the Lotus Seven)
The strange thing is that I always wanted to like the Corvette, but it just didn't happen yet for some reaseon. The car has a same kind of heritage that I like so much about Porsche. That's why I want to love the Vette. Maybe I just need to wait and see, feel and experience the new Vette myself before taking my conclusion. I admit that it isn't that fair... But still it comes to personal taste. The Jag F-type for example... I don't like that either. Front is stolen and badly reproduced from a Maserati and the back looks odd. I don't think that many people will share that opinion with me, but I can't help it.
IMO GM could sell a lot more cars in Europe if they would do proper marketing research. They even don't get it right with their European (German) brand Opel/Vauxhall. Losses get bigger every year, while the other German manufacturers do very well in these critical circumstances.
American cars got themselves a bad reputaion on build quality over the past years and I assume that is and will be a lot better now. The only problem is that people in Europe still believe it's bad. It's up to GM to do something about it. I think it's in some way comparable with what happened to the Diesel engine in the U.S.
BTW... Flashiness is the exact reason why I would not buy a GT3 or Turbo
At least not as my daily driver... Since I will use my 911 also to go to my customers, I have to take account of prejudices that people have. GT3 or for example a Ferrari 458 or Vette would not be highly appreciated. A normal Carrera or an R8 on the other hand, is just the opposite for most people here. I know it's odd, but most people here don't think a R8 is too flashy (depending on color choice of course). Maybe because it's an Audi...

I have only posted here for a little while but have figured out is not her that gets bent out of shape in the non Porsche discussions.
Reading comprehension escapes you.
This thread should never have even started since there is already a very long thread about the C7 Corvette, but it is going downhill fast with too much character assassination of forum members rather than discussion about cars. I hope a mod will shut it down and chastise those guilty of making disparaging comments about other posters.
I do not always agree with Suzy (most of the time I do though), but she is always diplomatic, writes well thought out answers, always tackles the subject or car (never the person, like some others have in the very recent history)
But, Suzy, Donkervoort the only one ? What about Spyker ? Or did they go bankrupt ?
ok, i appologize my bad..... I do realize I have become a snob.... (If I'm not careful next ill be looking down my nose at Caymans
And you got me... (and proved you have a sense of humor)..
