I'm very happy that you have developed a relationship with your dealer but I for one don't share the same faith in any one dealership. When I had my 997, I was always being quoted outrageous amounts for very basic service needs. At one point last year, I called 6 different dealers for oil change quotes. All the dealers were within a 30 mile radius of my house. The range of prices were $299 to $630 with one dealer that I called twice quoting me two different prices and another telling me that they don't give quotes over the phone. Anyway, I though a site where people can get coupons and service quotes from dealers would be very useful. It would have been very useful for me.

I get coupons from dealers in the mail all the time and I figured that other may have coupons that they don't need and my site can distribute them to people that might be able to use them. At some point, I'm hoping that dealers themselves can just put up coupons into the site.

The fact that multiple dealers give different quotes is beyond me. I mean - there is a factory issued manual for every type of maintenance with hours and guidelines (conditions, etc...). You'd think that with Arabic numbers, a 3 = 3 in different dealerships. Not sure why the price could double based on where you are (i.e. California service costing more than Kansas - does that mean that techs in Cali are twice as slow to do the same service?).

Basically - there is a standard time allotted. If they beat it, they make more money, because more service jobs can be completed. If they go over, they should eat it, not you.

gaspergtr, I agree with you 100%. This is why I thought a site like allautoneeds dotcom would be very helpful. We should all be able to share coupons as well as our service experiences and prices charged.

Roger.

Coupons? Not sure (these are sometimes area/dealer/model specific).

Prices charged? YES! An oil change for a 991 should be the same in NY, NC, and FL (excluding state tax, and independent hourly service rates).

allautoneeds dotcom has a bunch of coupons on the site for dealers all over the country. I just need some traffic so I can get dealers to give me more coupons, but the idea is to get people to put requests and have dealers respond with quotes. It's meant to be a social network for but the social network part is not completed yet. Check it out.

Does anyone use the Durametric cable/software to reset the service notice? In the Audi world everyone uses VCDS to reset notices, clear faults etc., and Durametric looks like a similar solution for Porsche. I'd hate to have to start taking the car in for such basic things as an oil change now that I'm getting back into a 911. Oil changes on my 996 were a cinch.

My Dealer Service Mgr said Porsche recommends Overnight Oil Drain?

Tried it on my 991. Not only did it not work but "tech support" was rude. It was like talking to the guys in the computer club in the 1970s. Snotty, impatient and wrong.

Yea big ouch!!! That's crazy. I guess they can charge in your part of the world due to lack of competition and perhaps it's ultra luxury???

I've now my 1 year/10K mile "complimentary" service schedule this week...keep ya'all posted on it (got few issues too wanting them to fix...)

Keep in mind that service advisors/writers generally work on commission; the more they can bill, the fatter their paycheck. From what I hear, it's not uncommon for a good SA to bring in 100k/yr.

Really? That is the first time I hear that. There is certainly a huge conflict of interest potential if this is true. Can anyone else confirm this?

Oil change, one year check up, and inspection cost me $360 plus tax or about $400. They also changed my pipes due to tailpipe recall. which was free. Huntington Porsche in Long Island, NY.
