Questions:

1) How many of you opted for this?

2) How much and what is the time period?

3) Does yours cover tires that are normal wear

4) Does yours cover road rash and scrapes cause wife hit a curb? :-)

 

I have never opted for this option. This is a big money maker at the dealerships and on average, a customer usually loses money on this option, otherwise they wouldn't offer it.

 

i bought it for my first porsche. as thot i'd probably scuff marks and more on the rims. when it did happen the deal said it wasnt covered for it. for my second porsche, i decided no point getting as felt like overkill esp if u drive sensibly.

 

1. I opted for it.
2. 2400 for 5 yrs, but also includes fixing windshield chips and dent removal
3. Does not cover normal wear, but if your tires blow, gets replaced for free
4. Does not cover curb rash to the tire, but does cover curb rash to the wheel

5 years tire, wheel, door ding, windshield chip and curb rash.

Already paid for itself. They replaced 20" classic wheel after they improperly repaired scrapes on wheel. New Porsche wheel on the car now

 

In 2009 I paid $600 for a 5yr, zero deduct for a 997 from the selling dealer. during that time period I got 2 NEW tires, 2 patches, and 1 wheel curb rash refinished.

I paid $700 for 5yrs, zero deduct for my 991. So far I have had 1 tire REPLACED.

There's just too much crap on the roads and our tires/wheels are expensive.

So try to get the best deal you can. These policies have huge markups.

Read the policy before you purchase - not the slick brochure - the actual policy. Understand that insurance policies are expressly designed to "hose" you. They appear to cover everything until you have a claim.

My claim was not easy. The insurance company's repair shop twice attempted to repair the wheel. First time the paint and repair on the wheel was substandard; second time, they used the wrong color.

Only after my persistent calls and use of my wit, charm and talent (not to mention that my emails to the insurance company indicate they are coming from an attorney at a law firm but i am sure that had absolutely nothing to do with they decision) did the insurance company do the right thing and replace the wheel.

 

Paid $700 for 3 years. Already got a rear tire damaged because of a pothole. No issue at all with the dealership. Insurance has paid for itself and there is still 2.5 years to go... It all depends of where and how you drive.

 

I paid $1500 for 5yrs and already have replaced 3 rear tires at no cost beyond time. I think it's worth it of you're a driver. A garage queen may not get any real use out of it. In addition if your area roads are nice and new, you may not get much out of it.

 

Ya. I need to figure this out. I figure that I'm going to drive 2-3k a year so I may opt out of it. Plus, 1000-1500 is a lot. You can buy new tires (Pilot Super Sport) for $250 each anyways. My only issue is the rims.

i guess if you curb your rims a lot its probably worth it
