Aftermarket valve exhaust
So I just installed the FVD sport exhaust (not x-pipe) which completely replaces the entire exhaust system, from the catalytic converter back. The system has valves, and can be controlled with a remote.
I'm having a problem with the remote, and dealing with FVD to see if the remote is faulty
. The remote is currently not installed. However, when I press sport/sport plus, there is a clear change in the sound of the exhaust, which I did not notice with the stock non-pse exhaust I had. initially I thought it was due to air-flow and other parameters, but it seems the exhaust flaps remain closed in normal mode and open around 3k rpm, but remain open all the time in sport and sport plus. Can anyone chime in with any knowledge as to how the system operates?
BTW the FVD sport exhaust, with the flaps open, sounds ridiculously amazing
lol
Thanks!
John

The sport/sport plus button allows more sound to be come into the cabin via the "sound symposer" - it is a small communication between the engine bay and interior at the rear end of the interior. It does not change your exhaust in any way ; so it's more interior engine sound only.

Sport and Sport Plus make no difference in operation of the valves. Strange that you're seeing otherwise. Pushing Sport or Sport Plus does raise the idle slightly, and the valves are open at idle, so you will hear it if you push the button at idle. Driving around over 5mph and under 3300 rpm, the valves should close regardless of the mode you are in.
I hooked up my GoPro to see the valves to make sure.

PSE works differently though. It does open up when you hit the exhaust button or select sport or sport plus.
That's not my experience with the valves.

That's the dilemma I'm having. I know the sound of the sound symposer, I'm positive it is working normally. But when I push the sport/sport plus button, the idle raises slightly but also the exhaust sound driving around (under 3k rpm) is significantly louder than when i turn those buttons off. Very confusing. Even the installer was baffled.
That is the way PSE works... dunno. You can try with a gopro to see what happens!
