black_991s is infamous around these parts
One issue with the Michelin PSS is that they don't have the front-tire sticking out of the side to prevent curb rash...Can someone confirm this?

I am interested in the answer to this also. I also have stock wheel with no spacers in my C2S.

The Sport Techno wheel option comes with 305's on rear already (and wheels are slightly wider also). I would assume, especially with no spacers there would not be an issue of P Zero 305's on the other 20" wheels would be an issue. Not sure about any Michelin sizing if they are identical in all respects. Question for someone like Tire Rack I think.

I am just quoting someone else here about the PSS to try to answer your question.

Here's a good calculator to compare tires sizes:

Hi guys, since we are on tyre topic here so might as well post a question on the 991 GT3's tyre. As we all know the GT3 runs on road-legal sports tyres & these tyres have a reduced tread depth & increases the risk of aquaplaning on wet surfaces. No doubt the grip on dry surfaces is phenomenal. My question is what is the best road tyre (Michelin or Pirelli) to replace these sport semi-slick tyres if one does not go tracking at all. Bearing in mind is a one for one replacement keeping the tyre size same which is front: 245/35ZRX20 & rear: 305/30ZRX20. Cheers & have a great week end guys!

Are the MPSS available in "N" designation yet? If not do you think they ever will? I'm just concerned whether using a non-N tyre will cause issues with warranty for the rest of the car.

So the front PSS does have the rubber sticking out. Do you have pics of the rear PSS?

Thanks.

I doubt Michelin will get the N-spec designation since Pirelli is the company with a working relation with Porsche currently in these sizes.

If a dealer try to deny warranty claim because the tire is not N-spec, I would look for another dealer.

Just my 2 cents.

My previous Porsche was a 2011 Carrera GTS. When the original Michelin PS2's (N-rated) needed replacement (at 3500 miles, but lots of track days) I replaced them with non-N rated Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I went through 4 sets of those tires in the 2 years I owned the car. I had ZERO issues with my dealer. My car was leased and when I turned it in it had the non-N rated PSS tires and it wasn't even an issue then.

Just yesterday I ordered a set of Michelin PSS to replace the P-Zeroes that came on my present 991 C2S. I've run P-Zeroes on a previous Porsche (2009 C2S) and the PSS tires feel noticeably better.

I didn't hesitate to switch to PSS at the earliest opportunity. No reason for you to hold back.

EDIT: I just realized that DKC was posting from the UK. My advice is limited to USA - I've no idea how Porsche in the UK deals with this issue. But in the USA it's not an issue at all.
