Speaking of docks... does anyone actually know which dock Porsche's ship from. From the satellite photos it appears to be tons of cars both coming and going from this port.

I'm going crazy looking at the satellite pictures of Emden port using marinetraffic.com, trying to guess which dock its sitting on.

I've seen several "Vehicle Carrier" class ships come and go, but apparently 'my ship hasn't come in'...

Won't seem fair if yours shows up at the dock and boards the same ship as mine.
that sucks, sorry man. I was hoping your answer would give me some idea how long mine will sit waiting for a ship. I don't like the answer

is marinetraffic the site to use for tracking your car via vin? I did this with my c63 years ago, but I forget how to do it. My dealer thinks I will have the car by mid-Nov. I hope so, I'd like to get it home before it snows.

Hey blackspeed....sorry for the OT question, but how do you like your c63 and do you have the dev package? How do you compare the performance to the C2s? I'm wondering because I test drove a C63 and didn't think it was that fast.

yes, my car was fully optioned with p31. I can't believe you didn't think it was fast, it's a beastly car and pulls hard all the way. I suggest a more spirited test drive

the 991 is a better all around pkg and I was never in love with the c63 styling, it was just okay. I love the 911 looks, especially with Sport Design

OK BlackSpeed, after spending way too much time Googling around, here is my prediction: I'll get mine 4 days ahead of you.

Theory behind this prediction: see attached shipping schedule.

I think I'll be on Camellia Ace (arriving into Emden as I write this). It leaves in two days for Davisville, then on to Houston (11/11).

Unless you can jump to the head of the line I think you'll end up on the Pacific Highway, arriving in Davisville on 11/15.

Cheers.

My experience was pretty good in that my dealer's estimates were very accurate.

They said it would arrive at the end of July (approx 6 weeks from my order date) and sure enough, the car was at the dealership in July - I could only collect it in the first week of August as it had to be licensed and checked etc.

Afterwards I found out that the car had actually been built within days of my order being placed and submitted - from there it sat waiting for about 2 weeks before it eventually got onto a ship.

I guess that's the logical way to handle logistics of transporting 200 cars a month to the tip of Africa.

haha, thanks, this looks good. There's a chance, I might get on the boat with you tomorrow. I doubt it, but it is a possibility. We'll have to see what happens.

Can we track the cars with the vin once they're on the ship?

How far is your dealer from Houston? I still might be able to get my butt in the seat first, since my dealer is about an hour away from the port. We still gotta go through customs, so that could be a factor. Either way, I want this car yesterday

Great point Moe. I really should just chill out, think about other stuff, and be pleasantly surprised when the dealer calls to say its ready.

I returned home from European Delivery on Sept 26. My car arrived at port in Rhode Island last Wednesday, October 16. Now I'm just biding my time and trying to 'will' my phone to ring with a call from the dealer!!!

I feel all of your pain!

Kevin

not sure what's harder, but you have to wait twice. On the flip side, it's like getting a new car twice

knurly, did yours get on the boat today?

BTW, how are you tracking your car?
I've used this with my AMG and plugged in my VIN.
Not sure if this will work with the Porsche

Interesting you should ask BlackSpeed...

The ship schedule at: http://www.molroro.com/MOLVesselSchedule.aspx
Says the Camellia Ace was scheduled to depart 10/25 (today).

At the time I write this it is still sitting at the dock, but a tow boat has arrived on the scene. Looks like it is about to depart!
http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/def...0&type_color=7

This morning my dealer did his daily check and it still didn't show being loaded on a boat. I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that it did load some time today, and that I really am on the Camellia Ace.

As far as tracking the Bill of Lading, I haven't seen where the shipping company Porsche (VW) uses provides that same tracking. I think all we got is banging on the dealer to provide status updates from their system. They should be able to tell you the ship name, and then you can track it from there.

Exciting! The tug is circling around the boat! Hopefully I'm on it, and its about to depart.

BTW, this appears to the be logistics company the VW group (Porsche) uses for managing the shipping process:
