interesting...you should be able to track the car via the VIN. My dealer is slow to respond to my requests and I don't want to pester too much, so I was hoping to know when it boards and what ship. Let's hope the tug boat is not there to tow the Camellia Ace I wouldn't mind a small delay so mine can get on too

As they say: "that ship has sailed".

The CAMELLIA ACE has pulled away.

http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/def...0&type_color=7

It will be a neat story (if I'm on that boat) to say I actually saw it pull out from Emden in real time.

Good grief its 2am in the morning at Emden.

have you confirmed your car is on the Camellia?

There's gotta be a way to search the ships inventory with a vin.
Did you try plugging your vin in on:
http://www.pwl.de/

I tried mine and nothing comes up, but I'm not sure my car is on that boat or the Pacific Highway

BlackSpeed: I got confirmation this morning from dealer I'm on the CAMELLIA ACE. Woo Hoo!

I tried plugging my VIN in the PWL site, but it returns nothing. Just relying on Google Translate, but it doesn't appear that form is for vehicle VIN search. Looks more like some other kind of shipping (container?) numbers.

I think you're best shot is just polling the dealer to give you updates, and get confirmation of which ship you're on. I made my guesses from studying the shipping schedules on the PWL (http://www.pwl.de/) and then the MOLROL (http://www.molroro.com/MOLVesselSchedule.aspx) sites.

I would still guess you'll be loaded on the Pacific Highway. For some reason the scheduled departure isn't listed yet on the MOLROL site, but PWL shows it *arriving* at Emden on either 11/4 or 11/5.

Cheers, and good luck!

Awesome, glad you made it aboard! I think you're right, mine will be on the next ship, I'll email my dealer and see if they know anything, I can still hold out hope that I made the Camellia Ace. It looks like the Pacific Highway is in no man's land right now, it was in RI a couple days ago, so I'm guessing it's heading to Emden.

Thanks for the update!

Hello from a Newby. My Management System sheet shows arrival at Emden on 10/15, and the dealer saiid it was loaded on Camellia Ace on 10/24. I can't find any indication that Camellia Ace has San Diego as a destination, but the dealer says my car will be off loaded there on 11/26 or so and at the dealership a week later. Anyone have any verifying info re ship and dates? Thanks,

Hey drgrey. My car is on the Camellia Ace, due into Houston on Nov 13.

You can get the schedule for the Camellia Ace from the shipping company's site:
http://molroro.com/MOLVesselSchedule.aspx
(select "Camellia Ace" for vessel)

The schedule took a 2-day hit from the North Atlantic storm that blew through the English Channel right as the Camellia Ace was passing through. The captain basically just circled around in a coastal bay for two days waiting for the storm to pass.

What's a bit strange is the Camellia Ace goes from Houston to Veracruz Mexico, then back up the east coast to Brunswick. I don't see it going to the west coast at all.

My guess, from looking at the schedules on www.pwl.de, is you are on the Dione Leader.

It departed from Emden on Oct 26 and is scheduled to arrive in San Diego on Nov 22.

Good luck!

Hey Knurly,
Thanks for the info. My dealer now tells me he thinks the correct vessel is Metis Leader due in San Diego on11/16. Can you suggest how I can verify whether the car is on Dione Leader or Metis Leader, and how to track each ship's progress? I have the VIN and date the car arrived at Port Emden, but nothing else. Thanks again,

drgrey the Metis Leader doesn't show up on any of the Porsche shipping schedules. Checking the marinetraffic.com site it appears to have left from Bremerhaven.

Are you trying to track a BMW?

Once the car is loaded on a ship, the dealer has the ship name in their delivery system. The dealer will be able definitively tell you which ship it is on. (I know this because I saw it over my salesman's shoulder during my wait.)

knurly and jnscolo,
My dealer confirms that information from Porsche shows that my C2 Cab is on the Metis Leader, due in San Diego on 11/16. What website(s) would you recommend to follow the ship's progress at sea and through the Panama Canal? Many thanks,

I'm having a ball using http://www.marinetraffic.com/ to track the Camellia Ace. Just as I write this the ship popped back into tracking as it is buzzing by the Azores.

To explain: tracking relies on Automatic Identification System (AIS) stations picking up the ship's transponder. Typically when they move into deep waters the AIS tracking "loses" the ship.

Tips:

* add your ship to your "fleet" on the site - you'll get email notices of port entry/exits

* note feature to display wind direction/speeds

Have fun!

Not in any way rubbing this in BlackSpeed, but here's what is sitting in the garage tonight (pic).

The build turned out better than I had hoped, and it got here faster than expected. Hard to exceed expectations, but reality is better than the dream.
