Just had car tuned!!! Wow!!
I hadn't either before I got the call but looked into them and had a long chat with their tech guy who showed me what he was going to do and why. I was comfortable with the explanation and he walked me through each step of the tune as he was doing it.
For the price of the tune and the purported gains with money back guarantee, it was a no brainer for me. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. The tune solved my gripe about lack of low and mid range torque and throttle responsiveness at a fraction of the price of an X51 upgrade.
I thought I would share this little discovery with fellow 991 owners who have also voiced displeasure about the 991 power curve.

Not the same as the x51 bc the x51 involves different engine components. My understanding is this tune is just taking your ecu mapping and altering various aspects of the power delivery through each gear ratio and re establishing the parameters of each gear ratio as well as adjusting the throttle responsiveness.
Tuning is awesome, but the only thing I tend to worry about is long term reliability; can the hardware handle the modifications to the software? However, it appears that in your case, the tuner is reputable and guarantees the work.
An ECU tune absolutely 100% effects your factory engine warranty...no if's and's or but's about it. Anyone who tells you otherwise is misleading you. Any flash is detectable if someone's looking for it. And if you have an engine failure of any kind, you can bet they'll be looking for it, and if they find it, they WILL deny a warranty claim on any engine-related part.
I'm sorry...but it's really unfair of people to spread false information like that.
I would be very very cautious about this statement.

Does this apply to the GIAC reflash as well?
Probably not in pompano beach at least!
Sorry for the delay in my response guys! I will write up detailed answers to all questions tomorrow... What I can say now is that we have done quite a few 991s, 981s, aventadors, and mclarens (all cars for the most part "untunable")with this tuner and the results/customer feedback have all been 110% positive.

Being an engineer, the notion and claim of 110% has always baffled me.
Yes. The GIAC flash will effect your warranty just like any other! However, we offer our own warranty that completely mirrors your factory warranty, as long as the GIAC flash is installed with other components of our power kit, at an authorized dealer. You can PM me for details if you'd like...don't want to hijack this thread.
Funny....actually, it's valid outside Pompano Beach too. Even in Pennsylvania.

whenever i ask our engineer for a degree of certainty with something he never goes above 50% haha. I always say "what are the chances of this happening" and he always says "50%, it either will or it wont"
The tune was done by the technical director of Viezu, a UK based tuner. Www.viezu.com.
Either you have been robbed or you are part of this rubbish or it's a marketing stunt.
I just now called viezu HQ here in the U.K. And they confirmed that the 991 software is in development stage so it's not available so I said you can't crack the ecu and he laughed and said no.
So can you please tell us how you are feeling this response and power ?
Sorry for the late reply, I've only just returned from Pennsylvania and New York.
The tune quite rightly so is a development tune, the first finalisation of this tune was at the Fabspeed facility over the weekend. I am yet to meet with my technicians at the UK HQ about the weeks work hence the information given above.
At the moment we have software fuelled for both N/A OEM and for the Fabspeed system which is a stunning package. This software was to be launched at the Sema show Las Vegas but due to discussions here we felt the need to reply sooner.
I can appreciate that there is a certain amount of hype surrounding this new software but if we can ask you to wait just a little longer we will work with the forum administration to officially launch the tuning packages at the start of November.
To answer an issue mentioned earlier, the tuning is non-invasive, no opening of the ECU required and a warranty is being worked on to cover anything deemed void by any OEM policy.
