Do I have a clearcoat?

I've seen some posts mentioning that base colors on the 991 (white, black, guards red) don't have a clearcoat. Is this accurate?

I have noticed that the paint on my car is a little soft and prone to nicks.

Porsche has been using clear coat on their cars since the early 70's. The technology was not universal in the States until much later on. I had a 1971 911 that was dark blue metallic with clear coat. The rear fender got damaged and had to be repainted. The color was perfectly matched but they did not have the clear coat so I drove the car for several years with one fender that had less of a shine to it. I finally was able to get it painted properly some years later.

they all have clear. if you want to prove it to yourself take some car polish (not wax) and rub it on your car. if the car had no clear the applicator would turn black.

Great responses by all those already. YES...I'm not aware of any car manufactured today that doesn't have clearcoat. Even older single-stage paints had clearcoat...it was mixed with the basecoat
