Carbon Fiber Mirror Clearcoat Repair/Help?! :( (LA, CA area)

Hey kids, When I bought my 996TT, the previous owner had applied a strip of clear bra to the Carbon Fiber mirrors... I had the clear bra on the front of the car removed recently as it was yellowing and my installer, after warning me not to do it, also peeled off the clear bra on the CF mirror... Unfortunately, it also took off about a 1" strip of the clearcoat/finish from the mirror! It only took off the clearcoat and the CF weave is pefect, it's just uncovered and dull looking... I want to get it repaired or I may have to just paint over it (waste)...

Can anyone recommend how/where I can get this fixed? Do I need to have the whole thing refinished? Can a competent painter/bodyshop take care of this??? Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm in the Los Angeles area (Santa Monica) to be exact. If anybody has any input or recommendations for a competent shop or individual who can fix this, please let me know!

Thanks in advance!

I know it's not close to you, but I've had some work done up in the Santa Cruz area (Joe's Bicycle Painting). He paints all of Calfee's CF frames and has painted for Kestrel as well - lots of experience with painting clear and solids over CF that is subject to sun exposure.

He also does CF repair work.

Here's his site: http://www.joesbicyclepainting.com/

I am not affiliated, just happy with Joe's work and also ride a Calfee.

Good luck

Spencer is infamous around these parts
Any competent body shop should be able to repair it with a high solids clear. Fill the damaged area, sand flat, re-clear entire part.

I recently had my Manthey CF mirrors refinished b/c they where dull. They just wet sanded smooth and re-clear coated. They now look brand new. Any good body shop should be able to refinish for you. Rest easy, you didn't screw them up.

Thanks for everybody's input.

AG-I'm going to run them by Ole but I wasn't sure if there were specialists who dealt with CF... I'm going to have a few people take a look and see what they say before I make a move.

Eli-I'm probably just going to roll by one day when I'm at my office b/c it's right near Raj... I may have him do my tail lights as well.

Thanks everybody!
