I originally ordered my 991S Cab to be a DD and I do use it that way in the summer. My "other" DD for other seasons etc. is a 2012 BMW 650i Cab. Both are great as DD but the 650 is a "Touring" car whereas the 991 is a true "Sports" car. Depends on my mood and how far my day's trip(s) is/are going to be. If shorter then the BMW and if going over 10 miles each way somewhere normally the Porsche (especially in nice weather).

I daily drive my C2S and would have it no other way. This car does everything you ask it and then some. Perfectly comfortable when you are just puttering about town and a beast on the open highway.

Don't question it...just do it!!

My last two 911s were daily drivers (a 997 C4S and 991 C2S). The only draw back was the commute felt too short even when I took the long way home.

In Germany, the car was originally considered a performance vehicle which could be used to drive to work on weekdays but use on the track when the weekend came.

Comfy 991 as DD is easy. Get a c2 with 19" wheels, tires with half load/comfort pressure, Pasm and Pdk. Done !

Edit: forgot the 14-way seats

I put 30k miles on my C2S and 20k miles on my 958 CTT. They are great DD's. If I were the OP, I would get a C4S with SPASM, PDCC, Sport Exhaust, and Burmester......done! The only reason I would get a 4 door sedan over a 911 is for the passenger or cargo room.

I ended up getting a S6 instead of M5 or M6GC, as it has same acceleration numbers, same comfort, and better tech. Yes it looks more bland, but I like the sleeper look. Added an AWE exhaust and it sounds amazing and a little quicker. Will get the GIAC tune soon and it will be stupid fast. Also remember the S6 costs 30 to 40k less than the bimmers.

I used to be a huge bmw fan and they have been lagging lately while the competitors are advancing. Have to admit the 6series GC is gorgeous.

wow - surprised there are 2 GTS Cayenne people here - anway, i used my 991 for a year as a DD but have to admit it bumped a lot for the GTS. frankly i found the GTS a little more engaging.

sold the 991 and just picked picked up a Lotus Evora S as a DD. a lot more lively than the 991S

I have used a 911 for a DD for over 10-years and enjoy every minute of it! Live a little and enjoy it!

As a sports car fan, I like all the attributes of a sports car such as stiff suspension, relatively small cabin, low driving position; so the features that most regular drivers would consider inconvenient or uncomfortable are the things that make it so enjoyable for me.

But as some already replied with the same comment, you should test drive both cars for yourself to see what floats your boat. Please don't take it in the wrong way but if you are asking this question, you probably will like the 650i better.

For a DD a Manual Trans = No
DD PDK = Yes

If you're sitting in an hour of stop / start traffic everyday, the MT clutch will get old very quickly.

Guess it depends on you... So you have to ask yourself what makes you feel comfortable..? is it a low acoustic environment... no road noise... soft ride.. ? Have to have a cup of starbucks or a cell phone in your hand.. is your daily commute just transportation? If you need that kind of feel then I suspect a 911 isn't going to be your favorite..

Or do you take a slightly longer way to work, maybe because you like to cut through a canyon, or twisty road etc.. Like to wind out 2 or 3 gear a little.. does your mind drift to wishing you were on the german autobahn and is the sound of a Porsche engine a symphony to you? If so then I suspect a 911 is for you as a DD..

On a practical note, I've driven sports cars for years.. and admittedly a manual in heavy stop and go gets tiresome on the legs.. I don't think that stopped me.. But a PDK, sure is a nice compromise and for me removes any reluctance to drive as a DD...

Either one will be my daily driver and there are days when I spend a lot of time in the car. What do you guys think? I want/need to be comfortable and have fun doing it. Thanks all

My 991S cab MT is my DD...best DD i have ever owned. previously i had anX5 4.8, Audi S5, 335is, CLK 55 and this car is more fun, more comfortable, and out drives them all. I even took it on a 7hr day trip and the 18way seats were more comfortable than any of the others.

Don't hesitate..just do it.

Go for the Porsche. I have a C2 as my daily driver. 20k miles per year. Currently at 24k. I drive it all winter. Take kids to school. Grocery shop with it. And it has been to the track 8 or so times. I only wish it didn’t cost me $2,000 every time I drive past the dealership (tires, brake rotors, pads and brake flush). The price you pay for miles and track.

Seems like we use our cars the same way.

My son loves riding in my car. The car works flawlessly as a DD for me. I had a 4 door M3 before the 991 C4S.

Just bought snow tires today, so it will see all 4 seasons.

It is great in the winter and snow. I live in Wisconsin. Right snow tires and it is fine.

I bought mine to be a daily driver. I have not started daily driving it yet though. The only thing that worries me is getting in and out of driveways. I feel like I have to survey every parking lot driveway before entering, so I can comfirm the ability to exit safely.
I am finding some parking lots need to be avoided.
How do you deal with the low ground clearance?
