Saddest day of the year
Saddest day of the year
Well, it's packed away before midwest winter hits. It's my first Porsche. Maybe in a few years I won't baby it so much, but until then, winters will be trying. I think I'm going to need withdrawal therapy. My family suggests a vacation would help, even though we've just returned from one. I think they have ulterior motives.

RIndy,
I think I would do the same thing if I lived where they salted the roads. This way you have a nice pristine car to drive when the weather clears up. I hope the wait to better weather isn't to unbearable for you.

Driving it means no need of therapy!
Ahhhh....Florida. Today was 80 deg in Central Florida. I washed off the grime of last weekend's DE at Roebling Road and applied a coat of wax.
While it gets quite warm (and wet) here in the summer, I do not have to shovel the heat and the 991 gets driven pretty much every day of the year.
RIndy....I suggest a vacation to the sunshine state. You can even rent a Porsche while you are here.

My winter tires go on Friday which means I will have had exactly one week with the car before it gives up some of its handling. However, I'm committed to driving year round.
I'm going ask this question with the utmost respect, because I really do not understand this concept.
What about the other 99.99999% of cars on the road in the winter? Do they all fall to pieces and rust prematurely?
Don't our cars have a rust / corrosion warranty?
If you're justifiably worried about the grit on the roads, why not consider getting a clear coat.
I drove my car through rain, sleet and snow. Pressure washed the underside every so often and never gave it much thought.
Now I live 1/2 a mile from the ocean, and the salt in the air should be just as big a concern as snow, but it's certainly not going to stop me from driving.
I've always kept my cars in pristine condition, but not at the expense of my enjoyment..
To each his own, but I wasn't sure as to the rationale behind locking away a perfectly good car for 5 months of the year (Nov - March/April/May 2014).
