'13 S-PASM vs. '14 PDCC switch
'13 S-PASM vs. '14 PDCC switch
Is it me only who's puzzled by the function of the switch with "shock absorber" sign on the button stack in '13 (e.g., mine) vs. '14 (e.g., JoeInDallas) 991 C4S??
I have S-PASM as well as PDCC and JoeInDallas has the same - now the question is what this button actually does in his vs. my car? When I press it, it indicates "Chassis Sport" and I could feel that suspension is stiffer. I thought my PDCC is active all the time... What does it do in '14 model year cars with S-PASM + PDCC?
Is it linked to PASM in '13 but linked to PDCC (on/off) in '14 cars
??

I have the same as yours Fester ('13) albeit on a 2S. You are correct pdcc is always active. It does change its parameters when suspension settings are changed and sport suspension is on. I think that on '14 models it's only a change of the graphic.
'14 car probably has Sportdesign kit or Aero kit. When the car comes from the factory with an immovable wing, they eliminate the button.
I have the sport design and (as you can see) there is no button.

Didn't know that, thanks.

??All the components are carefull matched (along with the suspension settings) for optimal effect over the ranges of handling and comfort.

PASM and PDCC are both "on" all the time. The sport setting for PASM biases the shock absorber toward the "faster rebound" end of its rebound parameter. The speed of the rebound is what is typically felt a "firmness (or harshness when it is sudden). PDCC modifies the roll bar stiffness, preventing the car from tilting in cornerers, which has a positive effect on the contact patch of the tires. Think "flattler" rather than "stiffer". The "S" in Sport PASM refers to to the shorter, stiffer springs on the car. They lower the car and restrict the amount of spring action compared to the standard springs. They have their own quality of variabiltiy- but due to the physics of the spring winding and material rather than the "active" control of the SPASM and PDCC).

Also, I believe the marketing folks added PDCC to the suspension button to identify which cars have PDCC and which don't. Without that, buyers would need to know what to look for under the car (or get a tech to confirm) whether '12 and '13 cars actually had PDCC.
I believe ChuckBDC has it just right.

Fester, thanks for posting this as I have been curious about it since Joeindallas' post about being able to switch PDCC on or off, which did not make any sense to me. My understanding is that PDCC is on the whole time and that button just firms up the suspension settings.
Alright -- thanks guys -- so conclusion is that it's just the graphic change on the button for MY'14 cars...ah these marketing folks are out of control!!!
I do plan on checking with the dealership workshop too..will post when I know it. Cheers!

I think the recirculate button of HVAC was changed too.
