Powerkit/Aerokit Grill Mesh From Rennline Installed
Thanks..., and Yes, It is GT Silver.
The price was about $355.00 from Rennline. That was including about $40.00 express Fed Ex shipping.
The dealership charged 2.5 hours (best of recollection) labor to install. Think about $600.00 or so. I can verify the exact amount later. The kit comes with clips and a few screws to install. It requires the front bumper to be removed, and there is an excellent video from Rennline showing the installation on a 997 GT3 on youtube.
The Tech at the Porsche Dealership suggested I use an epoxy on the center grill mounting rather than the hardware supplied so there would be no visible hardware on the top/bottom of the center intake.
The kit on my car is the "5 piece with parking sensors" in "BLACK". They also have kits for the standard bumper "3 piece" with or without parking sensors. The 5 piece fits the Sport Design and Aerokit Cup. The only difference is the additional spoiler lip on the Aerokit Cup. The non X51 bumper comes with the center covered by a black plastic cover on all models. The X51 center is wide open from the factory and the center radiator is vulnerable to road damage and leaf ingestion, which is a PITA to keep clean.
I decided to go with "BLACK" over the "SILVER" because it seemed a bit more stealth (O.E.) and did not alter the appearance of the Aerokit front bumper. Also, the side intakes have the slats in black (not painted), and unlike the GT3 it would be more obvious with slats AND a silver grill mesh mounted behind. The "BLACK" is hard to tell is installed. I'm sure either one would look great. Just a different look. I've seen painted examples in various colors on more track oriented GT3's. Nothing to stop anyone from doing that either.
In fact, I'm surprised Porsche has not figured a way to offer these as an option for non-GT3 991's. Seems with Porsche option pricing it would be worth at least a cool thousand..., and "Porsche Exclusive" offering to paint it in matching exterior color for a few another thousand!!!
S'hhh..., I suppose this is a bit more cost effective.
