You get it from Pfaff or DFC?
Dealer can add is easily, its programing and in fact if I remember correctly in Canada dealers offered a software update for ppl who had earlier cars that wanted rev matching.

Just lean on them a little in a constructive way.

I am very familiar with the options and what each gets me. I also know that 2013 models built after Nov 2012 have rev matching. I specifically discussed this option with my dealer and the car I picked a 2013 C2S with chrono was suppose to have it.
I admit I never check the built date and assumed that my dealer would have told me if there was a problem.
To my surperise my car does not have rev matching. Which means it was built before nov 2012. I guess that is why I got a good deal
I am still happy. I love the car and perhaps this will help me improve my heal and toe skills.

Thanks for your all you support guys I fell better having ready some of your positive supports.

This does clarrify everything . In fact I didn't know that within the same model year the earlier builds lacked rev matching on a manual grearbox .
You do have a valid complaint . I do know there are software updates though.

How did you find out that your car didn't have rev matching ? Did you test it and hit an over rev ?

I simply put the car in sport plus dropped the gear from 4 to 3 at around 4000 RPM and no blip. With rev matching you would get a blip and rpm should go up to about 5000. This is exactly sample as heel and toe but only automatic.

Do you know anyone who has done the software update. I have heard that there are sensors involved which are not dealer installed.

I think you are right. I think there is more to it than just a software update.

Is rev match even a useful feature?

How does it work if you want to drop 2,3 or 4 gears at a time like 7th to 3rd?
Just wondering..

Am i being too sensitive to be pissed at my dealer? I would have been ok if this option never existed but the idea that I could have had it makes me upset.

So far I love the car but my experience with my Porsche dealer has not been the best. There are other issues like scratched that was touched up which I hope will be taken care of soon...

What would you guys do / think ?
I think your dealer doesn't know the car. Blow it off after you write a letter to Porsche of North America and the mothership in Stuttgart. Remember you still have an awesome machine--the benchmark.

I find the rev matching an extremely useful feature on both track and everyday driving. On the track I am not a heel and toe expert and quite frankly want to stay focused on the other activities. For my daily driving activities it makes shifting down very smooth and you get the nice sounds from the sport exhaust .

The rev matching feature works on the gear you are jumping to and relatively matches the revs to the speed going. Does that make sense?

Sounds cool.
I just wondered if it could handle a multi gear drop, which is hard to predict.
Is it that smart or does it wait for you to select the gear before reving?

I can find out . In fact I am curious to know if my 13 Boxster S (manual) has the option too.

if it works like the 370 z it blips when it feels the shifter about to slide into the gate, if you coast in neutral and slide the shifter around you can get it to blip each gear by pressing against the gate

It handles rev-matching perfectly in those situations. If you go straight from 7th to 4th, it'll wait until you actually push the gear **** into the 4th gear position, and will then rev up to the appropriate RPM. It's never skipped a beat when I've messed around with it.

It also holds the RPMs up at the designated spot for a second or so, making it a smooth shift. To be honest, I avoid Sport+ because I'd rather perfect my manual driving skills without having the computer aid me in any way.

Ah sorry man. I totally hear you on wanting a feature or having it nagging you that you could have it it etc. If there is a way for it to be added go that route, if you really want it.

That being said enjoy the hell out of your car. It's still a porsche and still a great car. Plus as others have said you're still able to do it yourself!

Thanks man. I will definitely enjoy the car. With or without rev match it is an amazing beast.
I have asked dealer if they can add it.

In the MT is there any kind of protection to prevent an over-rev (above redline) on an unintended, severe downshift? Even if the electronics cut the spark, mechanically if you drop down 4 or 5 gears at a high rate of speed/RPMs, the gear change could spool up the RPMs into the 8-9,000 range pretty quickly, yes? Would be nice if they could somehow electronically refuse to let the clutch engage until either the RPMs and/or a different gear permitted a safe downshift.
