dealer playing game or is it me?

Just got my first 911 after many years of waiting for it. I wanted a deal so I got what was considered a good deal. I was told that my 2013 C2S with chrono and 7MT will have rev matching to my surprise the car I got is a late 2012 built with no rev matching ( I was never told of this, only through my own research on this forum). I am very upset and feel cheated but I have nothing in writing that this feature was promised to me...
Am i being too sensitive to be pissed at my dealer? I would have been ok if this option never existed but the idea that I could have had it makes me upset.

So far I love the car but my experience with my Porsche dealer has not been the best. There are other issues like scratched that was touched up which I hope will be taken care of soon...

What would you guys do / think ?

Another "dealer" horror story. From reading all of them, my 2 cents is, just let it go. Life is too short. Give the dealer an opportunity to make things right. It may be credit towards some service, some free porsche gear, anything in good faith to show they want your business in the future. If they don't, simply let them know you will not purchase from them again and you will tell others on porsche forums as well.

Too many times people just dwell on certain things and unfortunately, the outcome isn't what they expected. Don't let the dealer marr your memory of owning an amazing car. Just enjoy it and make great memories and experience. This won't be your last 911, and you'll be more careful and cautious on your next purchase. Chalk it up to life's lesson learned.

I have PDK. From what I've read, you will only get the rev matching in Sport + mode. Does your car come with Sport Chrono? You said you ordered one, but didn't say if the late 2012 car had it or not.

1) By "late 2012 built " do you mean a 2012 model ? If you were promised a 2013 car why was the specific model year not written on the paperwork ?

2) By "no rev matching" do you mean no sport chrono ? If so then did they charge you for this option ?

There are a lot of things upsetting with this post . It's upsetting that a buyer is not being aware of a car that he's spending 100+k on. It's upsetting at the dealership lacks of clarrity with a product they are selling .

I'd like to hear their side of the story because in my opinion your post raises questions .

IMO I would consider yourself lucky that you didn't get the rev match feature since that takes away half the fun of the 7MT. I actually fear that the dealer will unknowingly add it to mine through a software update.

If you are really set on this feature and since you have SC, ask your dealer if it can be added through a software update. In any event don't let this one thing keep you from enjoying your new 911. Congratulations and best of luck!

I agree that the post raises questions, As some of you may know I am a gm of a car dealership so I am all to familiar with stories like this. Some times its the sales rep fault and sometimes its the customers fault. Normally a sales rep will sell what a car does have not what it doesnt have, sometimes when a customer looks a multiple vehicles the options between the cars can be confused, sometimes a customer trades in an older model that has a standard feature that the newer model is an option.

OP
Is this a stand alone option or is it part of a package that the car doesnt have?

You can tell from the VIN whether it's a 2012 or 2013 model. Unfortunately I can't remember which character is the year designation. From memory, some 2013 models with MT built in calendar year 2012 did not have rev matching. It came part way through the 2013 model build year for manual transmissions.

The rev matching came out roughly halfway through the 2013 model year, no 2012's had it. In order to use it, you need to be in sport plus mode ( part of Chrono package). Everyone with the Sports Chrono Package after mid 2013 will have it with thir 7 speed manual, it is not a seperate option aside from the Chrono.

+1 for what Moe said. Let it go. Karma will decide who was right or wrong over time, but don't let fretting about it drag you down in the meantime.

Imo, the big issue is the different model year...that is a difference in value of thousands of dollars. As to the feature that may not be on the car, sometimes orders aren't delivered perfectly, especially in such a complex order as a P car. I hope you get satisfaction at least on the model year problem.

I'll say this.
A lot of people buy multiple 911's before they get it right.
With all the options on these cars the odds are against you getting it right on your first purchase.
Porsche really made it difficult with the slow feature roll out on the 991's.
They are still adding features, that should have been out on Day 1.

Do as many do, and start talking to your dealer about your next 911 and getting a good deal on this trade and the new order.

It's not just crazy talk, lots of people do that.
I think your dealer will make you a good deal and you might be surprised how easy it is to get into another Special Ordered 911 with everything exactly how you want it.
In the mean time, you have this one to roll around in.

You are not in a big hurry so just keep steady pressure on them until they cave in to a deal you like.
If I was the dealer I would hook a repeat customer up at a low margin deal if they were not happy with their first car.

To clarify.
My car is 2013.
I am very familiar with the options and what each gets me. I also know that 2013 models built after Nov 2012 have rev matching. I specifically discussed this option with my dealer and the car I picked a 2013 C2S with chrono was suppose to have it.
I admit I never check the built date and assumed that my dealer would have told me if there was a problem.
To my surperise my car does not have rev matching. Which means it was built before nov 2012. I guess that is why I got a good deal
I am still happy. I love the car and perhaps this will help me improve my heal and toe skills.

Thanks for your all you support guys I fell better having ready some of your positive supports.

My car is 2013 and yes I do have chrono package.
Early 2013 model years built before nov 2012 didn't have rev matching.

1- b pay late 2012 I means. 2013 model year car that was built ln Q4 of 2012. This is very common as most if not all car makers make the next model year car in the previous year
2- I do have and have paid for sport chrono package

3- I am very familiar with the car and have spent over a month researching the specifics of the cat that I wanted. I specifically asked for the rev matching feature and I as was told that I will have it. I really don't think my dealer knew that this exact car which was shipped from a few hundred miles away did not had this feature. Also I believe that the dealer did not know that the first half of 2013 C2S did not have rev matching. Having porsche add a feature to half the current production year is very confusing.
None the less the car is still great and has all the other features I love.
