Deciding between custom: 991 4S or V8 Vantage S

I recently leased a 2013 911 Carrera and I'm paying $180/month for insurance through Allstate (mid-30's, clean driving record).

My dream car has always been the Aston Martin V8 Vantage S and I wanted to custom order one, until my insurance agent told me it was $4700/six months!

So the cost of the Porsche I have now is MSRP $97k. If I wanted to build a 2014 Carerra 4S that costs roughly the same as the Aston Martin V8 Vantage S I want (around $170k), would the insurance be just as high for the Porsche as the Vantage?

Having driven the Porsche for a month now, I'm really liking it. I just love the design of the Aston better. But overall cost of ownership..

Marry something - that should help with your classification in their arbitrary premium calculator and reduce your insurance costs..

Hmm I just asked on the AM forum and they are saying much lower ins costs, even lower than what I'm paying for the Porsche. I think I need to change insurance.

Change insurance. I'm younger than you and have only had a US license for 4 years (much longer in France but no reciprocity). With all that and living in NYC I was paying $2400 for 6 months on my V8 Vantage, it was still a lot of money but nothing close to what your insurance is asking. Now on my C4S cab I pay roughly $1800 for 6 months and the MSRP of the Porsche is higher than the one of my former Vantage.

Get the car you love. It'll keep lingering in the back of your head otherwise !

You have to age. The 12 month premium for my 991 250/500k liability, full tort, 500 comp deductible is $1100. I'm 59 and married. Car classified as commuter under 11 miles one way.

building a c4s at 170k msrp? that is one loaded up Carrera! go with what fits your tastes best. I looked at the vantage. great car, very different personality than a 991. also, you are right to consider cost of ownership. Astons in my town run about $1k for an oil change. :O

^^ oh yes it has everything including powerkit and custom aston martin paint color. i like that it is more discreet than the AM and easier to fix, but i can't get over the design of the Vantage

Wow, these all seem like crazy numbers. I have State Farm and I'm playing about $750/6 months. I'm 31, married, and a clean driving record.

Finally settled on GEICO. Got quoted around $780 for my current Porsche C2, $1000 for a C4S, and $1500 for a Vantage (six months). Other places were much higher for some reason. So, insurance is no longer an issue! Now, deciding what to get..

If you're looking for something faster than the C2, the Aston is not it. So, if the goal is speed, the Porsche will be in a different league. If you're looking for something classy and luxurious, the Aston.
