The man was genuinely trying to avoid an accident and his wife was thirsty. What's a man to do - tell his partner to remain parched for the duration of the trip to avoid the potential for a spilled (spilt) drink?

No idiot SUV driver = No accident avoidance = No spilled drink

These things happen and can't be avoided (with or without a plastic liner).
An unfortunate incident which was taken in stride and kept in perspective by the OP.

If your dash is leather, feed the heck out of it and let it dry with the windows open.

I have clearplex on my windshield. Already has paid for atleast 4 windshields!

first time I am using it, and so far really liked this product.

I have always had to replace the windshields on my other cars sometimes upto 4 times in 1 car. Hopefully this will be my ultimate solution.

Oh man. Very sorry. I go with no drinks unless they're bottles. And even then a spill is always possible. When you get the car back give her a hug and take her for a drive.

Story from my dealership regarding windshield replacement. They had a Carrera GT needing a new windscreen. Installers, not Porsche, didn't know the entire hood had to be removed and broke 4 windshields at $2k each before bringing it in to the dealer. They had to explain to the insurance rep while it is a Porsche Carrera it is a Carrera GT, completely different.

All I got. Sometimes it's best to go to the source as opposed to letting a third party do it a tad but cheaper.

Thanks for all the kind words. I generally try not to have drinks but as the BMW is in shop getting new injectors, I was stuck.. All is good there. I do have insurance paying some, they wanted me to use safelight but I chose to have the dealership do it as a piece of mind.
With just talking to my agent, it sounds like I cover the deductible, they will cover the rest so a little better. I am going to look into that clearplex though.. Thanks for that information.
Hope all have a great day..

I just don't see why you would have food and drinks in your car ? Can't you just eat it at the restaurant ?

But I'm sorry you hit a horrible bad luck streak ! No Porsche lover should have to endure this :-(
