Polish headlights
Headlights are tricky. The top coating on plastic is not nearly as durable as the clear coat on the rest of your car. If you polish the headlights, you'll most likely damage the top coating on the plastic lens. Then you'll start to get hazing or yellowing. This is why you always see detailers tape off the head and tail lights. I learned the hard way on a previous car that hitting the edges of my headlights while polishing causes them to haze prematurely. If I were you, I would deal with pitting for now until it gets really bad and you are willing to wet-sand and remove the top layer of the headlights.
Does the clear bra on the headlights reduce the strength of the lights at all?
I'm pretty sure 991 headlights are NOT plastic but made of glass...am I totally off here??? Really confused by this thread. I do have clear bra on headlights though and they ARE made of GLASS!

Starting using this years back on my helmet shields. Works very well. I use it on the 991's lights just for maintenance. Hit the lights once a week or so to clean them.
Hope this helps.

Xpel sells a DIY stencil for your head and fog lights.
I think after you wet sand them you may want to consider this small investment.
PS. The headlight lenses do feel "plasticy"

I don't have my car yet, but I'd wager the lens is plastic. The reflective back side of the light may be glass, but the front is most likely plastic. Remember, once you wet-sand and repolish the headlights, (although a nice fix for a damaged lens) it won't look the same as they did originally. The wet-sanding removes the protective "clear coat" on the lens. It's not like polishing paint. On the painted metal, you are simply removing microns of the clear coat. On a plastic lens, wet sanding completely removes the UV protective coat. The plasic will require more wet-sanding and polishing in the future to keep it looking decent.
