Looking for the right DD exotic
Wow, five pages and counting.... I'm surprised my recommendation of the preowned SLS didn't get any traction. Maybe the styling is not loved in this forum, but after tracking a SLS for three days last year, I find it to be an amazing car that can do both DD and track duty with lots of visceral enjoyment. And I think it is definitely an exotic DD. Lots of owners use them daily and i plan to own one at some point. Yes the interior electronics are showing their age, but I think it's on par with the R8 and better than the Vantage. Most of these cars are low miles and babied by their owners. Very reliable car try to get a test drive in one, it will be worth it, trust me!
But to be fair and look at it from a rational POV, you certainly have a point. But it is not a sportscar. It's GT, just like that Vantage. If the OP at one day decides what he likes, maybe the SLS is the best choice he can make. But no one knows that right now... Even the OP doesn't know

Also, AMG will be introducing their 911 competitor next year, priced in the low To mid $100k, (c190). Basically a smaller SLS without the cool gullwing doors, but about $50-75k less brand new. I'd watch this car's development....
Probably this isn't making it easier for him... LOL!

I saw the recommendation... But it's an MB... I will never pass that recommendation haha. Sorry... Can't help it... I just hate those cars. (No offense!!)

That car puts a huge smile on my face the entire time I drive it (so did my c63) when driven like a Neanderthal
There's something to be said for this, IMO.
No worries, haha. When I think of an "exotic" DD (whatever that is) I think the SLS fits the description perfectly. It's not an MB, it's the only AMG car developed from the ground up by the guys and gals in Affalterbach, I'm sure you know that, but I had to mention it. I know the AMG versions of the rest of the lineup is essentially a modified MB car, but the SLS is different. That said... If I was forced to choose a car from the "other brand from Stuttgart" it would definitely be the SLS roadster. (Not the coupe... Don't like the gullwings). It's by far the best looking merc. It's a good car too. Reliable, comfotable, fast, a lot of power. So to be reasonable... I have to agree with you. (Did I say that??!!) :P

To me, SLS is no daily driver ! Where can I fit my 2 golfbags ? Plus, in a car of that money the center console is the same with the same buttons as a C class !
If it has a 3-pointed star in the nose... It's a Mercedes Benz

That said, my 991 is a beautiful machine and no other car (I've owned) has ever put a smile on my face by just looking at it!!

Fair enough, I don't golf, so it's not a concern for me, but I think it's a valid point. It does share some interior bits with other cars in the MB lineup, but I think with CF interior the console looks good at that price point. That said, no car is going to be perfect

About the pic of the golf bags in the SLS. Those are really small golf bags, and I'm pretty sure there's no full kit of 14 clubs in them ! Drivers and woods are much much longer than the bags. Even in my 991 I have to take them out of the bag and place them somewhat diagonally accross so they won't touch anything! You can forget about that in the SLS !
To me, 991 even is a much prettier car. But the SLS is more exotic ! I'd say the 991 is a sportscar (I can live with every day), the SLS is a supercar if you forget it's a Mercedes.
I don't see the point of the E class AMG, it wants to do the same as the S class, but is not as good at it as the S is.
And the SLS - while I admit I like it because it is a monster, a supercar - just isn't pretty enough for its price !
I sometimes wonder if with AMG you fall in love with and buy a monster of an engine and just settle for the rest that comes with it ! I don't want to settle or make compromises at that level of prices !
I'd prefer an R8 V10 over the SLS, as it has the same supercar aura, looks the part but with more finesse ! But that's all in dreamcar toyland for me. In the real world I prefer the beautifull daily driveable 991 by a BIG margin.

We can throw the vantage out then. Has anyone driven an r8 every day? The only thing that concerns me is the trunk. In the 911 it isn't so bad because I can throw stuff in the back seats as well.
Someone that owns a GT3 is probably gonna tell you that the 991 GT3 is an easy car to live with every day... Compared to a 997 GT3 that is true. Compared to a normal 991 it isn't. A GT3 is a trackcar, suited for street use.
Slowing down for every speedbump and lift the front of the car with the optional front axle lift is for example one thing I couldn't live with.
The car I experienced from the passanger seat, did literally need to slow down to almost hold and lift the front of the car to get over regular speedbumps here in the village I live. I can take those with my Boxster without hesitation.
Seriously... On the speed limited street, you will not notice that much difference in performance between a GT3 and a C2S. The noise and great soundtrack of the GT3 make you think you go faster, but you just don't.
On a track it is a completely different story. That is where a GT3 shines and feels at home. A GT3 should be tracked as often as possible. That's where that car is one of the best vehicles money can buy.
If you want comfort, speed, handling at an almost perfect rate, a 991 Turbo S is the best car you can buy. It offers everything in one package. In less than a year you can get one within your budget and on a Turbo S you don't need much options. Everything is already there.
Check this review... it tells it all and I can confirm that they are right. I drove the car for almost a day. http://www.gtspirit.com/2013/08/24/r...turbo-turbo-s/
If you don't want to read the whole thing, here's their conclusion:
Conclusion
The 2014 Porsche 991 Turbo and Turbo S approach perfection with an incredible package that combines luxury with performance like never before. It holds a lot more supercar than it looks initially give away. We praise the ability to change from a comfortable and sophisticated daily driver to a supercar killer on track at the touch of a button.
Like I said before... Go drive the cars you fancy most and make your decision. Without driving you will not be able to make a decision and we can't make it for you.

But like I said the 3 things I really like about the GT3 is 9000 RPM, rarity, and N/A motor. But if it is that low where you have to raise it every 5 seconds that would become annoying. I'm surprised in the zr1 I didn't have to do that and that car was pretty low. Lower than a 911 c2s.
So it seems we are back to porsche. c2s, c4s, gt3 (maybe pending a drive if possible), turbo, turbo S.
Anyone know how much off people got on the turbo after a year it came out? Right now on true car there is about a 10k difference in price but always that is higher than what people really pay.
GT3 is not extremely low, but the front splitter makes the angle of approach a problem with steep speedbumps. (Of course the driver was also very cautious, because it was his new baby
