Are Porsches really "exotics?"
Not sure where you get your statistic that 80% of all Porsches made are in CA? 20+ years ago 50% of Porsches went to USA and half of those to CA. % to CA in last few years is way down (in total) due to extremely high consumption of Porsche's into China. China is #2 buyer now and expected to be #1 within 3 years.
We all get to use to Porsches with their rear engines, fender fuel doors and front trunks. But the other day, when I was putting something into the frunk, someone came over and was amazed that there was no engine in there. I guess he felt the car was exotic at that moment ( or just plain weird).
Apparently there are exotic 911s where I get gas. Here is the pic on the pump.
It seems that the Porsche outlined it taking the gas in the rear...
if it were an exotic, i wouldn't have bought it since a dd can't be too flashy in most people's lives. the 911 is the ultimate understated overachiever. thankful i didn't have to buy a flashy car for the performance factor or a boring car for the elegance factor.
911 Turbo and Turbo S
The Turbo, Turbo S and the GT definitely exotics!!! What Porsche has designed and engineered into these cars definitely puts them into the exotic class of cars!!
+4..
I'm revising my earlier opinion that the 911 isn't an exotic due to the fact that it is unique among all cars in the placement of the engine at the rear of the car. This exotic feature should classify it as an exotic car even if it doesn't look exotic.
