Wimpy Horn

My new 2012 911 Carrera S (Louise) is absolutely perfect except the "wimpy" horn. Anyone have the same issue and alternatives. Thanks!

when you move at the speed of light the sound of the horn loses depth :0) Seriously - I had an issue on my '09 CTTS where I had a similar issue with the horn ..

On the 997 at least, the horns were known to go weak or bad completely. Take it to the dealer and make sure it's in full working order. If so, it should be loud enough.

I bust a cap with an HK416. Actually not, should any law enforcement authorities be reading this thread.

no and then yes. I blew one of the horns early in my 991 ownership. Maybe yours is out as well. There are 2.

Yep, I am on my third 997 and have had one of the horns replaced on all three. Hard to imagine Porsche hasn't changed suppliers or otherwise figured this out. I have never had a horn fail on any other car I have owned, regardless of price.

In general the electrics reliability on the 991 (MAF sensor, drive sensors in the wheel wells etc) are a world better than the 997. I speak anectodatlly from my own experience but also from talking to head mechanic at my dealer who obviously services a lot of both series.

Never had any issues with any of that on the three 997 i have owned. Just the horn issue that some here have had on the 991 also.

The horn on my old 997 had that problem. Replaced the high-note horn like two or three times. Technician use to make fun of me by saying I need to lay off the horn in traffic. Hahahaha. Hope the 991 has a better built horn.

Video for fun but not safe for work.

The cold has done a number on my horn!

[Insert witty comeback]

No but really, I'm in North East and ever since < 32 degrees my horn has sounded embarrassingly wimpy! Coming up to 10,000 oil change so I'll have dealer check it then, but still, a bit disappointing on a 100,000 plus car eh?

My horn died on my first 991 and the dealership did not seem surprised at all. The horn issue goes way back before the 991.
